THE CAMPAIGN ISSUES – WHERE EACH CANDIDATE STANDS (Part One)

I don’t think anyone would disagree with me that this presidential election campaign has been the most contentious in the history of the United States. In addition to being contentious, the campaign features candidates who are simply not well liked by the American voters. Because we live in an imperfect world, some mud-slinging is going to take place. Most people expect it and if the truth be known, most people enjoy a little bit of it. However, with this election cycle, it appears that most folks are sick of the contentiousness, but the press keeps on reporting on it, often times ignoring the actual issues.

This leads me to author this article outlining where candidates actually stand on the issues. The United States of America is in bad shape. The policies of Barak Obama and the Democrats have all but destroyed this country as we know it. The economy, while growing ever so slightly, is nothing short of anemic. During Obama’s first two years in office, The Affordable Care Act was rammed down our throats using every legislative trick in the book, including threats and intimidation. The Middle East is a mess due to Obama’s foreign policy; plus, our relations are strained with our only ally in the Middle East, Israel. Relations are also strained with our other allies across the globe. In addition to the above, Islamic terrorist attacks are taking place in the United States and the current administration, continues to refuse to address the problem head-on, and considers the problem the result of gun violence.

If elected to the presidency, Democrat nominee, Hillary Clinton plans to continue in the steps of the Obama administration in leading the country. Republican nominee, Donald Trump, has different ideas, acknowledging the country is in bad shape and needs a new direction.

The following will serve to compare and contrast the differences between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on the issues most important to the American people.

Obamacare

Donald Trump: Obamacare should be repealed Health insurance should be allowed to be sold across state lines. Premiums should be tax deductible. Allow Health Savings Accounts for individuals. Block grants to states for Medicaid instead of cost sharing.

Hillary Clinton: Expand Obamacare with three free sick visits before the deductible kicks in. Tax credits for premiums and out of pocket expenses over 8.5% and 5% respectively. Expand Medicaid through 100% matching funds to states for three years and more funding for enrollment programs.

Immigration

Donald Trump: Build a wall on the Mexican border and get Mexico to pay for it. Allow legal Immigration. Triple the number of ICE officers, deport all criminal aliens, defund sanctuary cities, end birthright citizenship, and increase the prevailing wage for H1-B visas.

Hillary Clinton: Supports the Dream Act and a path to legalization for illegal immigrants which includes learning English and paying fines. Toughen penalties for hiring illegal immigrants. She voted for a fence along the Mexican border and supports Obama’s executive action.

Abortion

Donald Trump: At one time was pro-choice, but now is pro-life. He is favor of outlawing abortions, except in cases of rape, incest, or life of mother. Is supportive of non-abortion services provided by Planned Parenthood.

Hillary Clinton: Is a strong supporter of Roe v. Wade and does not oppose restrictions on late pregnancy abortions. Feels that judges should protect women’s rights. Was rated 100% by NARAL. Vehemently opposes defunding of Planned Parenthood.

This concludes part one of the series on where Donald Trump and Hillary stand on the issues. Over the next few days, I will continue the report on how these two presidential candidates differ. The website, diffen.com provided the information for this article. Thank you diffen.

SURELY, YOU’VE LEARNED BY NOW

In addition to being a political blogger, I’m also the owner, designer, and administrator of an Alabama Crimson Tide sports website, http://www.bamareport.com. With Alabama playing its cross-state rival this past Saturday, November 28, 2015, I’ve been extremely busy with keeping that site up to date. There’s competition, you know, and I have to be more on top of things than my competitors.

So, when the Planned Parenthood shooting happened in Colorado Springs, Colorado, I thought, oh no. The liberals are going to have a field day with this. And sure enough, they began denigrating Republicans and Christians because they were sure that the suspect, Robert Dear, was a conservative/anti-abortion zealot. One post by a liberal that appeared on my Facebook newsfeed indicated that conservative Christians were nothing but terrorists and as dangerous as Al-Qaeda and ISIS. Then they came out with the rhetoric that none of the Syrian refugees had committed a mass shooting, but a Christian had. This all came out within hours of the shooting before anyone knew the facts. Of course, liberals don’t care about facts. If there’s an opportunity to smear conservatives, Christians, etc. they’re going to go after it with gusto.

Meanwhile, here in the southeast, we’re hearing rumors of head football coaches at certain universities being fired because the team they coach had lost three games this season. As of this writing, LSU Coach Les Miles has been retained, but University of Georgia head football coach, Mark Richt, is out. Coach Miles lost three games in a row before winning this past weekend against Texas A&M. Georgia also lost three games before beating its in-state rival, Georgia Tech this past Saturday. For both LSU and Georgia, one of their losses was to Alabama.

Of course, I’m prejudice, since I attended and graduated from the University of Alabama. But no one can deny the fact that they are good, perhaps the best team in the nation. If Alabama is on your schedule, you’re most likely going to have at least one loss. Now, Alabama can be beat. But you have to play your best game of the season and hope that Alabama is having an “off day.” Even if the “perfect storm” comes together, the game is going to go down to the wire. Beating Alabama is not easy and more than likely, you’re not going to beat Alabama.

I’ve had to listen to coaches, players, fans, etc. from opposing teams say how they’re going to manhandle Alabama, how Alabama doesn’t have good players and coaches, etc. Well, I think this year, Georgia and LSU had to be the worst offenders. With Alabama coming off a loss to Ole Miss, Georgia was so sure that they could take Alabama at their home stadium, Sanford Stadium. We know how that worked out. LSU was no different. They were so sure they could come into Tuscaloosa and take Alabama. Again, we know how that worked out.

The point I’m trying to make is that teams that play Alabama need to learn that they’re probably going to lose, except under certain conditions. Not that teams should chalk up Alabama as a loss, but they should be aware that Alabama currently has a great team. No coach should be fired or put on the hot seat because his team couldn’t beat Alabama. Opposing teams should look at Alabama in proper perspective and not just assume that they can take Alabama. When will they ever learn?

It’s the same with liberals. So many times they jump to conclusions without waiting for the facts to come out. They blame conservatives, George W. Bush, Fox News, Christians, the Confederate flag, etc. and most of the time they end up having egg on their face. But seeing that liberals care nothing about facts or the truth, they just go on with their rhetoric. Even though they are wrong, maybe there will be enough low information voters who blindly get their news from the major networks and think that taxing the rich and punishing corporations with high taxes and burdensome regulations will cause the middle class to prosper.

According to npr.org, hardly a conservative outfit, the Planned Parenthood shooter was not affiliated with any political party, and while he appeared to be conservative, he wasn’t a talker of politics. Liberals are going to do everything they can with this tragedy to insure that conservative Christians get a black eye, further turning Americans against conservative Christians.

Once again, instead of promoting their big government, totalitarian policies and making sound arguments with respect to how these policies are best for America, they content to beseech conservatives, George W. Bush, Fox News, Christians, etc. They will continue to be embarrassed, but what do liberals care? They don’t care about the truth or about facts. They certainly don’t care about low income and middle class individuals.

To you liberals, I wouldn’t be so quick to want to do away with white conservative Christians, especially southern white conservative Christians. Without us, you will have no one group to disparage. All the other groups are protected. When will you ever learn?

HE WOULD ABSOLUTELY GET ELECTED FOR A THIRD TIME

This past Tuesday, July 28, 2015, the current president said he felt he had been a “pretty good” President of the United States and was confident that he would be elected again if he could run again. Most conservatives responded to this saying no way. These are the same folks who were so sure that he would not be re-elected in November 2012. And look what happened!

If he was able to run for a third term, my prediction is that he would definitely have an excellent chance of being re-elected. He has majority of the media on his side, low information voters have generally supported him, and of course, everyone from the far left to the slightly left of center support him.

In 2012, I felt good about Mitt Romney’s candidacy after the first presidential debate. The current president seemed week and off-balance. Furthermore, candidate Romney did blow holes through the president’s socialist policies. Then came the debate on foreign policy when candidate Romney questioned the President about his labeling of the Benghazi killings as acts of violence and not terrorist attacks. Mediator Candy Crowley indicated that the President did call them acts of terror. However, it wasn’t until two weeks after the attacks that the President admitted they were terrorist attacks. Initially, the current President, through U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, publicly blamed the attacks on an anti-Islamic video. Candidate Romney seemed off-balance and no longer pursued Benghazi. When this happened, I thought to myself, Romney has just handed the election to the current President. Romney had his chance to expose the President for actions taken/not taken by him and his administration regarding Benghazi, but he blew it.

Enter Hurricane Sandy that traveled up the east coast wreaking havoc on densely populated areas. The President seemed genuinely concerned about the plight of the affected Americans and the loss or property. So, people who were undecided and might be leaning toward Romney, did an about face and voted for the current President.

Come election night, every toss-up state went for the current President. I thought that a bit strange because in most Presidential elections, the candidates split the toss-ups. Am I insinuating that there may have been some fraud? Yes, I think that’s a possibility, especially in Ohio. Can I prove it? No.

Conservatives do have a better message than liberals. If I had the chance to debate a liberal and had at my fingertips, all the facts and figures, I have no doubt that I would win the debate. However, in all likelihood, my liberal counterpart would get frustrated and emotional and start yelling all sorts of things at me, including racism, sexism, hater of the poor, hater of minorities, hater of the elderly, and the list goes on. I would find myself having to disprove the allegations. Of course, I can to that. But having to do that would derail the message I was attempting to deliver.
I have a huge imagination. In fact, it’s too big for my own good. But it’s proved useful for my fiction writing. Currently, I’m imagining that all of Hillary’s scandals come home to roost. Because Senator Bernie Sanders is an old white guy and not very exciting, it looks like the Democrat party may be down on their luck. Then in some unimaginable way, the current President is able to qualify and run for a third term, and comes in to save the Democrat party. Unfortunately, I know some Obama-zombies who would literally weep with joy should that happen. Sickening, isn’t it?

While I’ve always said that if most people really knew the difference between Republicans and Democrats, most people would be Republicans. In the summer of 2015, I’m not so sure. A liberal friend of mine, in failing to win an argument with me on Obamacare, indicated that the American people would get used to the increased premiums, diminished quality of healthcare, and the fact that the Federal Government, in forcing the American people to purchase something, is unconstitutional. I guess that will become part of the liberals’ mantra…”you’ll soon get used to it.”

The United States of America seems to have lost its moral compass. People are more outraged over the killing of a lion in Africa than they are over the illegal harvesting of organs from aborted fetuses. Twenty-five years ago, most American were pro-choice, but most of those pro-choice folks were against partial birth abortions and were pro-choice because they felt, that in the early stages of pregnancy, an embryo was not yet a human being. Liberals are set to ruin the life of the Minnesota dentist that killed Cecil, the lion. They are demonstrating outside of his closed office seething with hate. It seems okay for liberals to do this to the dentist, but not okay for pro-life groups to conduct organized protests outside various Planned Parenthood offices. It’s okay to have that awful George Soros pay protesters to destroy property and lives in the towns of Ferguson, Missouri and Baltimore, Maryland, but if there’s a sign at a Tea Party rally that may not be in the best of taste, those people are all dubbed terrorists and subjected to being called lots of bad names.

I don’t know that there’s any one person or group of people who can save the United States of America. But the United States of American can be saved and I believe it will be saved. Only God, at this point, can.
