A VIEW OF THE SOUTH FROM OUTSIDERS

Southerners are Trained to be the Helpers, an article posted yesterday on al.com, authored by Leslie Anne Tarabella highlights the outside media’s, particularly the left-wing media’s surprise at how people are helping people in southeast Texas and Louisiana during and in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

According to this article, Norah O’Donnell, a CBS correspondent, originally from Texas, was not surprised by the overwhelming kindness being shown by the Texas people and even those living outside the state of Texas who are rushing up to help anyway they can. However, back in New York City, anchors were marveling at the willingness and bravery of people showing up to help total strangers.

I don’t know whether to be happy or frustrated about this article. It’s no secret that folks outside the south have consistently looked down their noses at the south, although, they don’t hesitate to visit down here to enjoy our food, our weather, and our many tourist attractions.

Liberals, both those from outside the south and from inside the south (we do have liberals down here), have made the south their “whipping boy.” We go to church, listen to country music, watch sports, particularly football, own guns, and vote Republican. While we’re everything the left hates, the left doesn’t hesitate to hurl unfounded accusations at us and direct it’s hate toward us.

Are the likes of Rachel Maddow, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brezinski, Don Lemmon, etc. appalled at what’s going on in southeast Texas and Louisiana. I’m convinced they are. But, but, but, aren’t those people conservatives, Republicans, aren’t they against same-sex marriage? They disliked Obama and put Donald Trump in office. They’re evil people, but here we see them helping each other with factors such as skin color and socio-economic status not on the radar. How can this be?

Houston isn’t the first place where folks have come together in troubled times. Tornado outbreaks are common down south. After one occurs, “men with chainsaws” appear from all over waiting anxiously to get at those fallen limbs. In fact, once in a while, guys with chainsaws have had to be turned away because there were already enough volunteers to get the job done.

As I write this, away from the disaster site, churches, municipalities, and other philanthropic organizations are gathering supplies to send to the devastated areas to help. In the months to come, many trips will be made to southeast Texas where volunteers will continue to work tirelessly to make a difference in people’s lives.

To the liberal media and to liberals, in general, what are you so surprised about? This is normal, this is way we do things down here. Race, religion, skin color, nationality, education level, etc. are non-factors, not even thought about during times like this. And yet, you continue to berate folks like us, folks who voted for President Trump, folks you call racists, bigots, sexists, homophobes, xenophobes, haters, Islamophobic, etc.

Can I expect any of you elitists to change your minds about us after what you have witnessed in Texas? Of course not! You will continue spread your hate and vitriol toward anyone who does not agree with you politically, especially President Trump and his supporters.

How do you folks handle disasters? “Don’t tell us how you do it up north, cause we don’t care.” (From the song, Snowbird Season, written and performed by singer/songwriter, Brent Burns).

WHINY SNIVELING DEMOCRATS

Leading up to the presidential election held last week (November 8), all Americans were led to believe by the media, both main stream and alternative, that Hillary Clinton was a “shoe-in” to win the 2016 presidential election. Electoral college maps were displayed illustrating Clinton’s easy path to an electoral college victory and Donald Trump’s not so easy path to an electoral college victory.

As someone who wasn’t crazy about Donald Trump and supported other Republican candidates during the nomination process, I was fearful. This country couldn’t take four more years of ultra-left wing rule, and if we four more such years, the United States of America would be totally unrecognizable.

On the morning of the election, I predicted that Donald Trump would win the popular vote and Hillary Clinton would take the electoral college, thus winning the presidency. After all, the crowds at Trump/Pence rallies were much larger than those at Clinton/Kaine rallies. The states of Illinois, New York, and California are responsible for a vast number of electoral college votes. While most of the counties in these states tend to vote Republican, the highly-populated areas of Chicago, New York City, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco produce enough votes to turn these states blue.

Fast-forward to election night when the election results began to dribble in. It was announced that Trump had to win the states of Florida, Ohio, and North Carolina or he was finished. Losing one of those states would insure a Clinton win. But even if Trump did win those states, I would need to flip at least one traditionally blue state to win. Multiple scenarios were illustrated where each candidate could win 269 electoral votes. Then the tie would have to be broken by a vote in the House of Representatives. Given that the House had a Republican majority, Trump would win.

But it didn’t come to that because Trump was victorious in all three states that were a must for him. Trump was also ahead in the traditionally blue states of Pennsylvania and Michigan with Minnesota going back and forth. Even at this juncture, I didn’t have much hope, even though the talking heads were giving Trump a good chance to win. I didn’t think he would be able to flip a traditionally blue state. But well into the wee hours of the morning, the AP called Pennsylvania for Trump, soon the networks followed suit. Donald Trump had won the presidency.

On TV, the network would show a jubilant Trump headquarters and a woeful Clinton headquarters. On social media, I compared the Clinton supporters to football fans of the University of Georgia in 2008. Alabama, in its second year under head coach, Nick Saban, went to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs who were highly ranked. The Georgia fans were so sure they would be able to mop the floor with Alabama. They even declared the day a “black out” day and all fans were asked to wear black with the team wearing black on black uniforms. Well, guess what happened? Alabama jumped to an early lead in the first half and fended off a second half Georgia rally to win the game in convincing fashion. The TV cameras would show the Georgia fans, and I swear, I have never seen such a pitiful looking group of folks in my life. Clinton supporters reminded me of the Georgia fans.

Once the election results settled in, liberals, who were so smug and nasty to those who didn’t support Obama, had become whiny sniveling Democrats. College students who had, most likely, not been taught American history properly, were too devastated to go to class, much less take tests. So, they asked the heads of their respective institutions of higher learning to allow them to recuperate from such a trauma. And the heads of these institutions gave it to them.

As opposed to retreating to their safe spaces, some whiny sniveling Democrats took to the streets to protest the election results. They were upset that certain vote tallies were showing that Hillary Clinton received more of the popular vote than did Donald Trump. In my observations, it was going back and forth. Thus, the whiny sniveling Democrats were saying that Hillary should be president and would be if not for an obsolete arcane system that had been in place for generations. (I’ll have more on the electoral college in a futures post.) Whiny sniveling Democrats, I have news for you. We are a nation of laws, even Obama has said that once or twice.

In his acceptance speech, President Elect, Donald Trump, called for unity and indicated that he would be a president to all the people. He further indicated that he was aware that while many didn’t support him, he would be their president. Subsequently, social media, particularly Facebook, exploded with all these memes calling for unity. Some Republicans were expressing empathy with whiny sniveling Democrats, because they knew how devastating it was for them to lose.

I didn’t call for unity, nor did I express empathy with the whiny sniveling Democrats. Instead, I pointed out how those same whiny sniveling Democrats treated Republicans four and eight years ago. They told us that we lost and to get over it. They also told us that they didn’t care what we thought, they were going to do what they wanted to do.

Thus, I have no sympathy for whiny sniveling Democrats. They can deal with things just like we did four and eight years ago.

BLACK LIVES MATTER EXPLAINED

BLM

I shared the above meme from my personal Facebook page stating: “If Black Lives Really Mattered to You, You’d be Gunning Down Gang Bangers and Dope Dealers Instead of Cops.”

This was about the Black Lives Matter movement not hesitating to destroy property, injure people, destroy businesses, and interrupt people’s lives if someone black was shot (and killed) by a policeman, particularly a white policeman before an investigation of the incident could be completed, and the facts determined. However, when it comes to black on black crime, such as on the streets of Chicago and Detroit, the movement doesn’t seem to care, along with many blacks.

A FB friend took issue with me, indicating first that this was not how BLM worked, nor was this how the justice system worked. In the United States of America, innocence is assumed until proven guilty. However, BLM seems to be out there rioting and destroying before an investigation and trial can be conducted. While some of the BLM folks in certain incidents have indicated that they want to protest peacefully, they have generally never waited until the facts of the case were determined. Then there’s always those folks who never intended to protest peacefully, with their actions leading to property loss, bodily injury and total disruption.

This same individual also indicated that there had been no cases where the BLM movement has been charged or correctly accused of causing any physical harm to any officers. The organization, as a whole, may not have shot any police officers because organizations are not tangible. But, according to TheGatewayPundit.com, as of July 17, 2016, at least eleven police officers have been shot dead, and several shot and injured by Black Lives Matter activists since the movement began in August 2014. The FB friend indicated that the movement was one thing and then there are just people who are consistently mad at the perfect law enforcement officer, no matter what color his or her skin may be.

If the BLM movement is indeed unicorns, puppies, and justice for all, why didn’t they denounce these isolated individuals who were rioting? Why didn’t they denounce those individuals who were alleged to have shot the police officers? Why were alleged members of BLM protesting at the Minnesota state fair and in the streets of New York City,  yelling, “Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon,” and “What do we want, dead cops, when do we want it, now?” Why did they unabashedly interrupt a Bernie Sanders rally when Bernie was running for the Democrat nomination for president?

The person objecting my sharing of the meme  also referred to “perfect” law enforcement officers. No one ever said that all law enforcement officers were perfect. Yes, there are bad cops, but overall, our police officers are fine people. I have law enforcement officers in my family, and I was engaged to one. I’m on the side of law enforcement.

My nemisis went on to indicate that this meme was outright false, political fodder, conformation bias material, divisive props, and not even close to being finished on this list, but completely dismissive of what the cause actually stands for. This meme was asking a question, no conclusions were drawn. Political fodder? Perhaps. Most liberals have no problem with the actions of BLM and most conservatives do. Confirmation bias? Confirmation bias is defined as the tendency to interpret new evidence as confirmation of one’s existing beliefs or theories. I haven’t seen any new evidence that would indicate that Black Lives Matter is something else other than a violent organization where its members take the law into their own hands and create havoc when something happens that they don’t like. The leaders have not come out to explain themselves or the organization. Divisive props? The meme is one with which most people are either going to agree or disagree. I’m not sure what the person who took issue with this meme may have meant in the allegation following divisive props, but he/she did indicate that people like me are dismissive of what the cause actually stands for. Again, maybe if Black Lives Matter is about justice for all, why don’t their representatives come out and explain themselves? Why don’t they explain why isolated incidents of police officers shooting blacks get their attention and the daily, sometimes hourly black on black murders in Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, etc. get dismissed? Don’t these people also deserve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?

My FB friend further indicated that BLM was being treated like a joke. I can tell you, the Black Lives Matter movement is no joke, and I don’t know anyone who thinks it is. It’s a dangerous organization, and has failed to prove otherwise. Of course it’s not okay to take the law into your own hands. The meme was illustrating that since BLM expends so many resources and energy causing havoc whenever a policeman shoots one black person, without regards to the facts of the case, wouldn’t those resources and that energy be better served in situations where multiple blacks are sometimes killed in one evening.

While representatives of billionaire Democrat activist George Soros have vehemently denied the funding of the Black Lives Matter movement by Soros’s Open Society Foundation, documents have been published which show that two months before the denial, the OSF board approved $650,000 to BLM. This is according to thenewamerican.com. Instead of using this money to actually help improve the lives of poverty stricken blacks, it was used to create more unrest in the form of violent protests and staged riots, also according to thenewamerican.com.

You may remember that George Soros once said that he would be willing to spend every penny of his vast wealth to defeat George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential election. He’s still wealthy and George Bush was elected. According to humanevents.com, Soros would like nothing better than for America to become subservient to international bodies. He has repeatedly said that he sees himself as a messianic figure.

Divide and conquer is one of many ways that a nation can be weakened and eventually diminish and or dissappear. Certain elements have been seeking to divide this country along different lines, including racial, social, economic, and political for decades. George Soros has no love for the United States of America and is allegedly funding and promoting groups that seek to divide the country.

Food for thought.
