THE FAILED PRESIDENCY OF BARACK OBAMA – PART TWO

The following is the second part of a series in which I’m illustrating the failed presidency of Barack  Obama. According to an article in townhall.com, dated August 9, 2014, the president got the following things wrong.

  • Because of Obama’s policies since he became president, 11,472,000 Americans have left the workforce. Fewer Americans are at work today than in April 2000 even though the population since then has grown by 31 million. (Mortimer Zuckerman)
  • The number of Americans on welfare has hit record highs, plus a record of 20% of Americans were on food stamps in 2013. Furthermore, 11 million Americans were getting disability payments, a number that is approaching the population of Cuba.
  • The United States lost its AAA credit rating because Obama was spending so much money. When he was running for office, Obama called George W. Bush unpatriotic for adding so much to the debt and promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. But as we speak, the national debt is approaching 20 trillion dollars. Since Obama became president he has added more to the debt than all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton combined.
  • Obama’s “cash for clunkers” program cost the American people $1.4 million for every job it created and did little to reduce carbon emissions.
  • After BP had a huge oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Obama not only bungled the clean-up process, he slowed oil production from other companies that had done nothing wrong, leading to higher oil prices. Obama also helped drive up the price of gas by blocking the Keystone Pipeline.
  • When he was running for president in 2008, Obama claimed that, “Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year would see any form of tax increase. Not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.” He lied.
  • Through 2013, the Obama Administration had imposed new regulations on businesses that cost $46 billion a year.
  • Obama’s campaign contributors at Solyndra were handed $535 million of taxpayer money that the Obama administration knew they would never be able to pay back before they gave it to him.
  • Even Barney Frank admitted that Barack Obama shamelessly liked to the American people to get Obamacare passed. He promised that Americans could keep their insurance plans, that they could keep their doctors, and that Obamacare would save the average family $2,500 per year. Not only were all of those liked, Obama knew they were likes when he made those promises. Also, Barack Obama has broken the law repeatedly by making at least 23 unilateral changes to Obamacare. And we all know that Obamacare has been a disaster that cost millions of people their health insurance and sent health care costs spiraling into the stratosphere. Obama has also taken $700 billion out of Medicare and put into Obamacare.
  • The website portion of Obamacare, healthcare.gov, was a functional disaster for months when it rolled out and Obama claimed he didn’t know anything was wrong. This former software engineer would have taken a team of five or six additional programmers and designed, developed, tested, and implemented this program for substantially less that it cost and in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Obama, the President of the United States, got involved in a local police matter in the Henry Louis Gates case where, before knowing the facts of the case, he said that the police acted “stupidly.” He also inserted himself into the Trayvon Martin case. This proved, beyond the shadow of a doubt that Barack Obama was racist and never had any intention of being a president to all of the American people.
  • Americans died at Benghazi because Obama’s administration didn’t take their repeated requests for additional security seriously.
  • Obama’s premature pull-out in Iraq and foolish refusal to get a status of forces agreement in Iraq left the country vulnerable and let to the terrorists in ISIS taking over a large portion of that country.

This list isn’t by any means exhaustive with regard to the failed presidency of Barack Obama, but memorizing a new off this list will certainly give you fodder in which to win an argument with any Obama-zombie. While I initially indicated that I would publish a series of articles regarding the failed presidency of Barack Obama during the week of Christmas, I now think I will do it between now and January 20 when the worst president in the history of our nation finally leaves office.

THE FAILED PRESIDENCY OF BARAK OBAMA – PART ONE

Over the next week, between now and Christmas, I will write a series of articles on the failed presidency of Barak Obama.

According to thefederalist.com, Barak Obama has failed as president in ten ways (Article dated Sept. 16, 2014):

  • He didn’t heal racial divisions: While Obama did indicate a desire for a “purple America” instead of a red America and a blue America, he has done the opposite of bringing people of different races together as one. Instead, he has taken the United States of America back to the mid-sixties/early seventies with respect to race relations. His disastrous record on race dates back to an early point in his presidency when he rushed to judgement indicating that the police had acted “stupidly” in the arrest of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates by police Sargent James Crowley when Gates was entering his home after being away on a business trip. According to Wikipedia, Sgt. Crowley was responding to a call by a neighbor that someone was breaking into Gates’ house. Jumping to conclusions without knowing all the facts, Obama not only besmirched our nation’s police force, but began what was certainly a premeditated effort to divide this country along racial lines. Furthermore, Barak Obama has continued to divide this country along racial lines and I don’t expect him to stop anytime soon, even after he leaves office in January 2017.
  • The so-called stimulus package didn’t stimulate: Barak Obama was elected in the wake of the 2008 financial crash. Accordingly, in what was his first major act as president, he signed into an enormous spending package, adding onto our national debt. This package was supposed to jump-start the economy. Part of this stimulus package was supposed to contain “shovel-ready” projects, which Obama later admitted didn’t exist, but the billions of dollars spent disappeared without a trace. It seems like every summer we were promised a “recovery summer” where growth and employment was supposed to take off? Sadly, during the Obama presidency, the percentage of people working in the labor force actually declined. No one disputes that the economy was in crisis when Obama assumed the presidency. But he has presided over the slowest, weakest, economy recovery since the great depression.
  • Financial Reform didn’t reform: Obama assured us that we would never repeat the problems that led to the financial crisis and the recession in the first place. But the Dodd-Frank financial reforms didn’t reform anything. Instead, they created several thousand pages of new legislation and many, many more new executive branch regulations. These regulations have muddled the rules rather than clarify them. The old system in which a handful of giant financial institutions were considered too big to fail, and this could depend on the rest of us to bail them out, is alive and well.
  • The Obamacare disaster: The disastrous launch of Obamacare reminded us of everything that’s wrong with big government. No one in the administration, not even one Democrat was held accountable. I was a software engineer at the time the website was rolled out. It was unfathomable. Who was writing the code? I could have joined with five or six of my colleagues and had this out in six months and for a lot less money than was spent. The Obama administration further assured us that insurance coverage for 32 million uninsured would be provided. After four years, Obamacare had only covered between 10% and 20% of what was promised. Also, about half of those were covered through an expansion of Medicaid, a burden that would bankrupt the states, rather than through Obamacare’s Insurance Exchanges. We were lied to when we were told that if we liked our plan, we could keep our plan. We were also lied to when we were told that our premiums would substantially decrease. Many of us are paying huge premiums with enormous deductibles. If we were to need serious medical help, we could face financial ruin.
  • Obama failed to reform immigration: Per the Federalist, Obama spend all of his political capital on the failed stimulus and Obamacare, leaving nothing for immigration reform. Because he was unable to get anything through Congress, he floated a dubious plan to enact amnesty through a unilateral executive order that he doesn’t have. Instead, he failed to enforce the nation’s immigration laws, contributing to a crisis on the southern border. Thus, he has managed to enrage the right, the left, and the middle. He hasn’t cracked down on illegal immigration, he hasn’t legalized it, and he hasn’t forged any kind of compromise or consensus on the issue. Nothing has been accomplished.
  • He withdrew prematurely from Iraq: Obama was so eager to distance himself from George W. Bush that he pulled all of our troops out of Iraq as soon as possible. Furthermore, he totally ignored the country, even as a terrorist threat re-established itself there. For most of 2014, he downplayed the rise of the Islamic State, calling the JV. He later admitted to having no strategy for dealing with ISIS, but hastily put a plan together. Obviously, it didn’t work and ISIS is now in the United States and continues to flourish, and have been the root of several terrorist attacks taking place in the U.S., including those in San Bernardino and Orlando.
  • He blew the Arab Spring: When a series of uprisings overthrew dictators across the Middle East, Obama failed to adopt any meaningful policy or turn the situation to our advantage. He did nothing for so long with respect to Egypt that all of the factions there hate him, and most of Egypt’s liberals concluded that he was secretly backing the Muslim Brotherhood. As a result, Egypt went back to where it was, except this time, the military dictatorship regards the United States as a useless and irrelevant ally. Unfortunately, the two places where we could have taken advantage of the Arab Spring and rid these countries of evil dictators, Libya and Syria, ended in disaster. In Libya, the killing of our ambassador in Benghazi was just the beginning of a slow collapse into chaos and civil war. In Syria, three years of doing nothing allowed the rise of ISIS, which then spilled over into Iraq. And something many have forgotten about: In 2009, Iranians poured into the streets to oppose their own brutal theocratic, terror sponsoring regime, Obama sat back passively because he preferred to cut a diplomatic deal with the ayatollahs.
  • Obama ignored the threat of a resurgent Russian dictatorship: During a debate with Mitt Romney in 20012, Obama dismissed Romney’s suggestion that Russia might be a threat to American interests. As of September 2014, the president’s response to Russian aggression has been to impose a few more sanctions, make a speech in Estonia, and otherwise ignore the crisis and hope it goes away.
  • He didn’t shut down Guantanamo, keep the Russians from spying, or rein in the drones. Obama came into office having loudly condemned many of the Bush administration’s measures against terrorism. Then he continued them. It is the opinion of author, Robert Tracinski, that Obama has achieved a unique combination, managing to morally discredit America’s anti-terrorism policies without truly ending them.
  • He has made America irrelevant: Most of Obama’s failures have resulted not from taking a bold stand, but from taking no stand and just letting events drift. In many cases, he has given speeches or press conferences to announce his enlightened intentions, then did nothing to plan for how he was going to achieve his goals. In addition to his failures with the Arab Spring, the Ukraine, and Iraq, for most of his presidency, Obama has declared his intentions to “pivot to Asia,” extricating himself from the Middle East and focusing on bolstering our Pacific allies to peacefully manage the rise of China. He never did it and let the Asia pivot die of neglect.

When you combine the above with his frequent vacations, golf outings, and his fascination with the trappings of pop-culture celebrity, you get the impression that Obama has lost interest in being president or unable to handle the responsibility.

He was originally elected based on celebrity, on vague slogans of “hope and change,” on a sense of self-congratulatory smugness about how progressive and enlightened we would all be if we voted for him. He was re-elected on all of that, plus the smearing of his political opposition as racists and mean rich white guys.

THE UNRAVELING OF RACE RELATIONS UNDER PRESIDENT OBAMA

There is no doubt that the United States and its citizens have witnessed the unraveling of race relations at the hand of President Barak Obama. But when did it all begin?

First Lady, Michelle Obama, tells blacks to just vote Democrat and have some fried chicken.

First Lady was never proud of her country until hubby, Barak was nominated for President on the Democrat ticket.

In my humble opinion, it began during the 2008 campaign for president when candidate Obama’s wife, Michelle, indicated that for the first time in her life, she was proud of her country. Mrs. Obama uttered these words after hubby and nailed down the Democrat nomination for president of the United States.

This didn’t set well with me and many others. This also indicated to me that she must have a history of anti-Americanism. This combined with her husband’s “hope and change” message further disturbed me. What kind of change was Barak Obama speaking of?

Fast forward to July 16, 2009. Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was arrested outside him home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The professor had just returned from a trip to China where he was doing research. Finding the door to his home jammed, he was trying to get it open when he was arrested by police Sargent James Crowley. Sargent Crowley was responding to a 911 call in which the caller reported there were men breaking and entering Gates’ residence. Gates was never charged.

On July 22, the current president said the following about the incident. “I don’t know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that…the Cambridge police acted stupidly…there is a long history in this country of African Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately.”

This incident was unfortunate and I would have been made if I had been in Professor Gates’ shoes. Furthermore, this was local and nothing in which the president of the United States should become involved. That was my first reaction when I heard about the situation. Because this was a white police officer and a black man, the question of race was brought into the mix.

The above was six months into Barak Obama’s presidency. Is this a taste of things to come? Unfortunately, yes.

Fast forward again to Treyvon Martin, who was killed in a low level scuffle, two thugs going at each other. Because one was a light-skinned Hispanic, the liberals considered him to be white and Treyvon was black.

Once again, the president of the United States interjected himself into what should have been a local matter and indicated that if he had a son, the son would look just like Treyvon. Then Representative Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) uttered the words, “Treyvon was hunted down like a rabid dog and shot in the street,” before all the facts were in.

Fast forward once more to Michael Brown, a black man who was shot by a white policeman in Ferguson, Missouri after robbing a convenience store. Out of this incident arose the Black Lives Matter movement and the “hands up don’t shoot” mantra. The “hands up don’t shoot” chant arose when it was alleged that the white police officer, Darren Wilson, shot Mr. Brown in the back while his hands were in the air. This was proven false, making “hands up don’t shoot” predicated on a lie. But this didn’t stop the Black Lives Matter movement from continuing the chant, “hands up don’t shoot,” or chanting the following in the streets: “Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon,” and “What do we want, dead cops. When do we want them, now.”

To make matters even more ridiculous, the current president sends a representative to Michael Brown’s funeral. He sends a representative to the funeral of a thug, a criminal? At the time, it was almost too much for me to fathom, especially when this president failed to even acknowledge Kate Steinle, a California woman who was murdered by an illegal alien.

The following frustrates me about the above incidents.

  • The current president injecting himself in low level local matters. Isn’t he supposed to be protecting the people of the United States of America (we know how that’s worked out)?
  • That we’re wasting so much time and energy on low level local matters.
  • That folks are refusing to wait until the investigations are complete and the facts are in to begin their protests, which invariably turn into riots and looting.
  • Once the investigations are completed and the facts are in, liberals don’t care about the facts and the investigation results and continue their disruptive ways.

Now, most of us have come to expect rioting and looting by the Black Lives Matter crowd whenever a black person is killed at the hands of a white person. The investigation and ensuing facts are irrelevant. The statistics illustrating that these are isolated incidents and that there is no pattern of whites killing blacks or that white policemen are deliberately hunting blacks to kill them are ignored.

On the Sean Hannity show last night, Geraldo Rivera indicated that the President Obama needs to step forward and unite the American people. Well, he’s spend 7-1/2 years dividing the American people, what makes you think he’s going to have a change of heart and begin uniting this country during the last months of his presidency?

I hear everyone around me, politicians, talking heads, posters on Facebook and Twitter say that we need to stop the hate, we need to sit down and talk, we need to put ourselves in the shoes of someone black. May we choose? I think I’ll put my feet in the shoes of former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice. She’s beautiful, talented, is from my state, and thinks like me. Actually, I don’t think that’s what the liberals meant.

I’m not attempting to diminish the struggles of blacks in the United States who persevered through slavery and Jim Crow laws; not in the least. Every human, every group, every race, etc. has had difficulties, has struggled, and has suffered. While God has blessed me beyond what I deserve, I’ve had my struggles and difficulties. And you know what, they’ve made me strong.

If you were twenty-two years old when Civil Rights Legislation was passed in the sixties, you’re about seventy-five or seventy-six now. If you’re under fifty, segregation was being eliminated before you were born. When Civil Rights legislation was signed into law, things didn’t automatically become perfect. In fact, things will never be perfect. Change of the nature directed by the 1964 Civil Rights Legislation, takes time to fully happen. Since the law’s inception, things have progressed to the point where a black president was elected after forty-four years. Whether you like and/or agree with Barak Obama, the United States seemed to have put racial divisions behind us in one generation. Blacks make up about 13% per the U.S. population and about 91% of those blacks are Democrats. Barak Obama had to have lots of white votes to get elected.

Unfortunately, the black president who promised hope and change has certainly given us change and not good change. He has spear-headed the unraveling of race relations in this country to a point where I sometimes think relations were better when we were segregated.

How are we going to get things back to normal, the way things were in early 2008? Encouraging love and condemning hate are not going to do it. This is something liberals and some conservatives are doing in order to feel good about themselves.  Let’s talk, let’s discuss. Let’s have a beer summit and invite everyone. Did you see Megyn Kelly last night? I’m not sure about talking either.

So, what I would like to propose is to rid ourselves of any political correctness, if we can. We may have already been brain-washed to the point where this is impossible. Then we need to quit interjecting race into everything. Just don’t mention it, act like it doesn’t exist. If there is an altercation between someone white and someone black, don’t throw in the race card unless you can prove beyond a doubt that race was involved. I’ve already let liberals know that they must find an instance where I’ve disparaged this president because of the color of his skin before they start hurling the racist accusation against me. I think it’s time that we all do this.

I believe that once we do the above, we can perhaps undo all the damage that Barak Obama has done with respect to race relations in the country. Then perhaps, we can clearly see the scenarios where real racism is involved and then take steps to correct those scenarios.
