As a believer in Jesus Christ and a follower of his teachings, I am instructed to follow him, pure and simple. I’m not to concern myself with why my life is not perfect, yet there are so many in this world who appear to have perfect lives. Even though I have so much love to give, I’m not to concern myself with the fact that, to date, I haven’t married, nor bore children. I’m to follow him and know that he is in control. Furthermore, God never promised any of us a perfect life. In fact, quite the opposite. We will have struggles in life, but are comforted to know that God is in control.

I have friends and acquaintances who appear to have a blessed life, surrounded by many loving family members and wonder why I’m alone. I have friends who have never had a problem controlling their weight and wonder why I struggle constantly. Yada, yada, yada…you get my drift.

This planet is not a perfect place and won’t be until Jesus returns and sets up his thousand year reign here on earth. And while we should always strive to be the best we can be and never accept imperfection as the norm, we know true perfection cannot be achieved until Jesus returns.

Every day, though, especially since the current President of the United States took office, we see liberals, on the surface, at least, attempting to provide ultimate perfection in our lives. Sadly, they have made things worse.

Let’s begin with everyone’s favorite, healthcare. In railroading the ACA through Congress and making it the law of the land, this administration has wreaked more havoc on the American people that any other administration. Americans are being forced to purchase health insurance against their will. For those who are able to purchase health insurance, premiums have sky-rocketed and the quality of healthcare is decreasing. Many have been unable to keep their doctors and have deductibles so high that they would suffer financially if they incurred a health catastrophe. Yet liberals, told us to focus on the fact that everyone would have access to health care. Moon bat Pelosi even encouraged us to quit our jobs that we hated and “write that great American novel, follow your dreams.” We wouldn’t have to worry about healthcare. I could write a short story on this and will one of these days, but not today.

After foisting an extremely flawed ACA down our throats and shedding tears because now all those poor souls who didn’t have access to healthcare would not have it, it looks as though liberals are realizing that it’s not working. Now they’re telling us that we’ll get used to it, the high premiums and the lesser quality.

So, were they really wanting to make things perfect for us in the U.S.A. or were they just wanting to take control over 1/6 of this nation’s economy and exert additional power over our day to day lives. I’ll take the latter.

Currently, the current president and his liberal henchmen are advocating that companies, provide paid family leave for their employees. Also, anyone who is against a government mandate for paid family leave, according to liberals, is evil. Of course, I’m a conservative, and I think paid family leave would be a great benefit for companies to provide for their employees and think it should be encouraged. What I’m against is a government mandate for paid family leave.

The Family Leave Act passed by the Clinton administration in the nineties, requires companies to provide family leave to their employees, but it’s unpaid. Twenty years later, I still have yet to find anyone who has used Clinton’s Family Leave. Most workers will use the paid time allowed that their companies provide them, so they won’t lose pay. For me personally, using Clinton’s Family Leave would be a last resort.

Should the liberals get their way, companies, especially small businesses are going to be hit hard. And what’s this going to mean for employees? We all know the answer to this. Possible layoffs, a decrease in raises and other benefits, etc. Also, this would surely result in an increase in the price of goods and services a company provides.

But liberals seems to think that government mandated family leave is another panacea in their quest to make our lives perfect. And again, “be aware of Greek’s bearing gifts.” Liberals, including the current administration, do not care about you. All they care about is taking control over as many aspects of your lives as possible.

With liberals, step by step, attempting to take God out of our lives and foist all their government programs upon us under the ruse of making our lives perfect, are they trying to establish “heaven on earth?” Well, it’s not going to happen.

If you are a follower of current events and politics, you hear about Republicans and Democrats. Of course, the Republican and Democrat parties are the two major political parties in the United States. Most folks know that Republicans are generally against most entitlement programs and Democrats are generally anti-war. Republicans would rather spend money on our nation’s military and Democrats would rather spend money to create and/or extend entitlement programs. Also, those mean old Republicans don’t want everyone to have health care and those panty-waist democrats want to take our guns away from us. People living in the major metropolitan areas in the northeast and on the west coast tend to vote democrat while people who live in the southeastern United States tend to vote republican. White people tend to vote republican while most black people vote democrat.

While the above may give you a sense of what Republicans and Democrats support, it really doesn’t tell you what the actual, textbook difference is between a Republican and a Democrat. This is pure speculation on my part, but I believe that very, very few people on the street could actually tell you what the difference is. To my knowledge, Fox News has never explained the difference between Republicans and Democrats to its viewers, and while I watch CNN and MSNBC sparingly, I doubt these two media outlets have either. I’ve never heard Rush Limbaugh explain it to his listeners, nor is the difference spelled out on his website.

Well, it’s simple. Republicans believe that “stuff” should be handled in the private sector or the lowest level of government possible (limited government). Democrats, on the other hand, believe that government should be more centralized and stronger. And that’s it! Former President Richard Nixon, a Republican, was one of the first political figures on a national level to speak out against discrimination, especially when it came to race, back in the fifties when he served as Vice President under President Dwight Eisenhower. However, the former president did not advocate the passing of laws to eliminate discrimination. Former presidential candidate Barry Goldwater said that he was against passing the Civil Rights bill because he felt that you couldn’t legislate morality. It wasn’t because he hated minorities. Discrimination and prejudice were in the hearts of the beholders and you can’t pass laws to change what is in a person’s heart.

Because Republicans believe in limited government, they are generally against the expansion of entitlements. It’s not that they don’t want people to have “things,” but it’s because they are advocates of limited government. Of course, we Republicans have been accused of being mean-spirited and uncaring, plus we have been called a plethora of other things by Democrats. Do I as a Republican want everyone to have access to healthcare? Of course, I do. That would be great. But in an imperfect world, it’s just not possible. Enter the government to make it possible and look at the mess that we’re in now, and all of this because about 15,000,000 folks don’t, for whatever reason, have health insurance. Of course, almost every man, woman, and child in this country that had health insurance will be negatively impacted. So, with Obama Care, we’ve hurt so many and actually helped so few.

An example that I like to use when explaining the differences is the Family Leave Act that was passed during the Clinton administration. This law mandates that employers who have a certain amount of employees provide a benefit called Family Leave, whereby the employer must give the employee time off where the employee has to deal with family related issues. If someone takes off under the Family Leave Act, the employer is not required to pay the employee, just to hold the employee’s job open. While this would be a good benefit to have and maybe offer to employees, IT’S NOTHING THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STICK IT’S NOSE INTO! This should be an employee-employer thing to be worked out between the employer and the employee. That law was passed in the early nineties and I don’t know anyone who has taken time off work under it.

This country was founded on the basis of individuals providing for themselves and having the opportunity to excel with limited interference by the government. In its short life of almost 240 years, this country has become the greatest country on the planet by adhering to the above principle. It works and Republicans are or should be dedicated to the principle of limited government and individual responsibility.

Is there a clear-cut, distinct line between Republicans and Democrats? Absolutely not! In fact, there are a lot of gray areas. Plus, anyone who pays even limited attention to the news knows that there are disagreements among members within the parties.

While the platform of the Republican Party maintains the life begins at conception, and therefore; is against abortion, there are quite a few pro-choice Republicans out there. Although, I do speculate that there are fewer in the party than there were, let’s say, twenty years ago because medical science has shown that a heart and a brain are formed very quickly after an egg is fertilized in the fallopian tubes of a woman. The Democrat Party, on the other hand, believes that a woman has a right to choose what she does with her body, and if she chooses to abort a fetus, that’s her right. So, this is one area where Democrats take a hands-off approach and Republicans advocate laws banning abortion.

In advocating for limited government, Republicans almost always are for lowering taxes and limiting government regulations. We respect people and feel that an individual can better spend his money than the government. By lowering taxes and limiting regulations, entrepreneurs will have more capital with which to expand their businesses and hire additional employees. Then those employees are paying taxes. This does result in increased revenue to the feds and the states. Democrats, on the other hand, love raising taxes, especially among the wealthiest citizens. They think that this is the way to increase revenue and pay for all of the entitlement programs that they desire to implement.

Because the mainstream media is mostly Democrat, the current administration is Democrat, and as of this writing, Democrats hold the U.S. Senate; so many really horrible and untrue things are said about Republicans. The following are some myths you will hear from Democrats about Republicans.

  • Republicans are anti-minority: Nothing could be further from the truth. It was Republicans that passed the Civil Rights Bill, wasn’t it? In fact, Senator Albert Gore, Sr. voted against it. Republicans, though, do not believe in giving minorities special treatment just because they are minorities. The barriers have long been lifted, cross the bridge, blend in, and don’t segregate yourselves off just because your skin color is different. Sit by me, work with me, have dinner with me, hire me, etc.
  • Republicans are against women: Again, nothing could be further from the truth. I could write pages on this, but that will be for another post.
  • Republicans don’t care about poor people: What a crock! Republicans join service clubs, contribute to charities, and provide hands-on help for so many of those less fortunate. What Republicans don’t like is their tax dollars being taken from them and for every dollar taken, that dollar goes up the ladder and down the ladder where maybe $.05 of that dollar goes to the cause.
  • Republicans are anti-immigration: This is something that the Democrats and the mainstream media would have you believe by not separating legal immigrants and illegal immigrants. If you want to move to the United States, welcome, we’re glad to have you. But please do it the right way.
  • All Republicans are rich: LOL! Earlier in the twentieth century, the Republican Party might have been the party of the rich, but that’s just not the case anymore. Would I like to be rich? Yes, why do you think I’m putting up websites and writing books?
  • Republicans are against public education: That’s not a true statement; although Republicans do have trouble with teachers’ unions. We’re also concerned about the high percentage of liberals that do teach our children and may seek to indoctrinate them with liberal philosophies.
  • Republicans don’t care about the environment: Once again, not a true statement. However, Republicans consider certain environmental measures that are forced upon us are too extreme, and put in place in order to have more control over our lives.

Now, I’m going to outline some of the things that Republicans say about Democrats and give my opinion as to whether or not there is any truth in them.

  • Democrats want more abortions: I don’t think Democrats wish that more women would have abortions. They just believe that it’s a woman’s right to choose whether or not she has the child that she has made. I also think that it’s only a very few extremists that are in favor of late term abortions.
  • Democrats want government to control as many aspects of your life as possible: I don’t think the Democrats on the street want total control over my life, but I do feel that at governing levels, Democrats collectively want as much control over our lives as possible.
  • Democrats think that minorities are inferior so they need special privileges and consideration: I’ve always felt that this was true about Democrats. I’ve seen evidence of white Democrats looking down their noses at minorities, much more so than Republicans do.

There are so many additional things that I would like to say, but the sole purpose of this post is to explain the actual difference between Republicans and Democrats. It’s very simple and something most people don’t know. Do I think it will cause you to change parties? Maybe. Most of all, though, I hope you all become aware of the difference and that it will further assist you in the understanding of governing processes.
