CLIMATE CHANGE ALARMISTS

In 2015, then President Barack Obama signed into law, the Clean Power Plan to slow the rate of climate change or global warming. It was to cut carbon pollution from existing power plants. According to townhall.com, it was the first action of the United States government to do so.

Earlier in the week, President Donald Trump signed an executive order, directing the EPA to abolish this legislation. As you can imagine, the left went bonkers.

John Hawkins, in an article on townhall.com, entitled, 5 Reasons It’s Dumb to Panic Over Global Warming, listed quotes from some well-known liberals. Van Jones, Communist, and Obama’s special advisor for Green Jobs, was quoted as saying, “Trump may have just signed a death warrant for our planet (at least, a planet that is livable for humans). And the lies he told to justify it have real consequences for real Americans, her and now.”

Another quote, this time from our friend, Michael More: “Historians in the near future will mark today, March 28, 2017, as the day the extinction of human life on earth began, thanks 2 Donald Trump…Trump has signed orders killing all of Obama’s climate change regulations. The EPA is prohibited henceforth from focusing on climate change.”

Mr. Hawkins points out that the left doesn’t worry about deficits, terrorists, health care costs, out of control spending, teachers’ unions’ strong-hold over public education, the government’s out of control spending, etc. Instead they freak out and the possibility of the planet burning 100 years from now.

The 5 reasons not to panic over climate change/global warming are as follows:

1.There is Actually No Scientific Consensus on Global Warming. Whenever any of us conservatives indicates that climate change/global warming is a hoax, particularly man-made climate change, the left always throws out that 97% figure representing the percentage of scientists that think that man-made climate change is real. Mr. Hawkins says that’s simply untrue, and reflects that, “A 2012 poll of American Meteorological Society members also reported a diversity of opinion. Of the 1862 members who responded, 59% stated that human activity was the primary cause of global warming, and 11 percent attributed to the phenomenon to human activity and natural causes in about equal measure, while just under a quarter, 23 percent, said enough is not yet known to make a determination.” Then last year, it was found that nearly six in ten climate scientists didn’t adhere to the so-called consensus on man-made climate change, per a study by the Dutch government.
2.Even if Global Warming is Happening and Mankind is Responsible, it may still make Sense to do Nothing. Former Secretary of State John Kerry, called climate change, “perhaps the most fearsome weapon of mass destruction,” and claims that unless we act, it could pose “the most catastrophic, grave threats in the history of human life.” Yet the UN Climate Panel found that the total cost of climate change by the 2070s is less than 2% of GCP. This means global warming is a problem, but is not by any means the end of the world. Its cost is equivalent to a single year of recession over the next 60 years. This comes from Bjorn Lomberg, of nationalpost.com in an article dated September 23, 2014. When you compare the threat, which we’re not sure is actually a threat, of climate change to what the world faces now, we acting like the person who is seriously injured in an automobile accident, but obsesses over the fact that her new Vera Wang dress was ruined.
3.Global Warming Theories are more Art than Science. Mr. Hawkins reminds us that we live in a world where scientists cannot tell us for sure whether it’s going to rain tomorrow, but we still have people assuring us of what the weather is going to be like in 100 years. Climate models used by scientists to predict how much human activities will warm the planet have been over-predicting global warming for the last six decades, according to a recent working paper by climate scientists, Michaels and Knappenberger. Climate models used to predict global warming have been consistently and egregiously wrong for decades.
4.We Don’t Have a Good Way to Even Know What Temperatures Were Centuries Ago. You often hear claims that every year is supposedly the “hottest on record.” Yet, we only started doing meaningful worldwide measurements in 1880, and many of those early numbers are considered to be unreliable. It’s been a mild winter in central Alabama. In fact, there have been very few days that I wore a winter coat, but do work out of my home. There were probably some days that I just didn’t go outside. We broke and came close to breaking a number of records for highest temperature on a number of days. It seemed like most of those record-breaking or near record-breaking days went back to the early 1900s. This leads me to think that we many have been in a warm cycle similar to the one that some say we are in today, back then. Also, when I was growing up in the North Alabama town of Cullman, about sixty miles north of where I live now, we would have at least one three to six-inch snow every winter. That’s not happening now, although Cullman did have about a three-inch winter before last. When I was in high school, our regular football season ended the first week in November. For the last two or three games, it was always cold. Now it’s not, leaving me to conclude that our climate is cyclical.
5.We’re in the Middle of a Global Warming Pause. Mr. Hawkins questions how we can be in a pause if liberals are claiming that we just broke a new record with every passing year. Because these “record-breaking years” are within the statistical margin of error.

To a reasonable and prudent individual, the above should bring to the conclusion that the validity of climate change/global warming is unconfirmed and questionable. Yet, folks like Al Gore, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and Gina McCarthy all have insisted on many different occasions that “it’s settled, climate change/global warming exists.

Furthermore, these are other far-left zealots won’t even acknowledge studies or new statistics that affirms otherwise.

I know you’re probably tired of reading this, but I’m not going to stop. If Democrats, liberals, progressives, or whatever they want to call themselves, were the champions of the middle class and lower income individuals they claim to be, they would jump at any chance to disprove climate change, and not be in such a whirlwind to snatch us off of fossil fuels, a source of inexpensive and reliable energy, and transition us to the more expensive and unreliable green energy sources.

TRYING TO UNDERSTAND DONALD TRUMP

My liberal Democrat friends all want to know what I think of Donald Trump. Will I be supporting him whole-heartedly, will I hold my nose and connect the arrows by his name on Election Day, will I stay home, or will I actually do something I’ve never done in my life and vote for the Democrat candidate for president? I actually had a friend who is clueless when it comes to politics and current events ask me sincerely if I was supporting Hillary. Again, this lady is clueless.

In order to find out where I stand on Donald Trump, all friends, not just Democrat friends are going to have to read this post.

Here goes. I have some major problems with Donald Trump. While he’s one of the best business men on the planet, he has no public sector experience. I think you need both in order to serve as president. To say that the public sector and the private sector march to the beat of a different drum is putting it mildly. When Donald Trump wants something done, it gets done just because he orders in done. This is true with private business. Private business is not a democracy. Those of us who have spent decades working in the private sector know that when our boss tells us to do something, we had better do it or risk getting fired for insubordination. If you work in the private sector, you can be “called in” and fired for no reason. This doesn’t happen often. In fact, I only know of one instance where this happened. Of course, there was an underlying reason, but it was one that department management didn’t want in the records. In governing, especially being president of the United States, it just doesn’t work that way. Donald Trump as president is not going to have the same power as Donald Trump CEO had. How is he going to deal with it? Will he do what Obama has done? “I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone and I’m going to use them when Congress doesn’t give me what I want.” While the Obama zombies and the mainstream media allowed Obama to get by with this statement and even applauded him, the mainstream media and left will never let a Republican president get by with this. Having said the above, I would have had the same problem with outsiders Karly Fiorina and Dr. Ben Carson.

In a Republican nominee for president, I wanted someone who would first and foremost take steps to repeal Obamacare, the most insidious thing every wrought upon the American public by the American government. Then I wanted the Republican nominee to indicate that he or she would go through and “uncheck” all of the executive orders that Barak Obama signed, thereby going outside of Congress to make law.

Candidate Trump has been accused of flip-flopping on many things including universal health care. After reviewing his statements on healthcare from the website on the issues.org, I’m getting mixed signals. Initially, he was for universal healthcare and indicated that he was liberal when it comes to healthcare. Now, he’s indicating that Obamacare is a complete disaster and should be repealed in its entirety. Trump does believe, though, that pre-existing conditions should be covered.

Trump on abortion admits that he was once pro-choice, but is not pro-life. A lot of pro-choice folks have converted to pro-life stances. I have no problem with that what-so-ever.

Soaking the rich is something that Donald Trump has advocated by calling for a 14.25% tax on the net worth of wealthy Americans in order to eliminate the national debt. I’ve never been in favor of soaking the rich. It never works and generally serves to hurt middle and low income individuals.

He also feels that the Department of Education should be abolished so that education can be handled locally. In addition, he thinks the EPA is a disgrace and should be cut, that climate change is a hoax, and that solar energy is a bad investment.

Furthermore, every time I tune into the news, the talking heads are discussing some sort of flip-flop he has made.

However, have you looked at the alternative? If Hillary Clinton is elected president, we can kiss this country good-bye. We simply cannot let her get elected. If she’s elected, we may very well have single payer health care coverage rammed down our throats. She will continue to gut the military and do nothing about ISIS. In addition, she will continue her war on the coal industry putting thousands of workers out of jobs and cause energy prices to rise. Green energy, no matter how unreliable and costly will also be rammed down our throats. Foreign policy will continue to be a joke.

Good Lord willing, I will be at the polling place on Election Day and will probably hold my nose as I vote. For additional information on where Nominee Trump stands on the issues, you can visit this website. Trump on the issues.

THE CLEAN POWER PLAN, MORE CLIMATE CHANGE FRAUD

According to the Daily Signal in their article entitled, “The Fraud Factor of Obama’s New Climate Agenda,” the current president in his recent visit to Alaska, was seeking to scare up support for his climate agenda. In proving that man-made climate change does exist, the president sought to emphasize a major proponent of climate change: When the weather is warm, ice melts (that’s powerful stuff, y’all).

The current president even had a photo op in front of the retreating Exit Glacier. However, there is one little fact about the Exit Glacier. It started retreating more than 100 years before the start of significant man-made carbon dioxide emissions. Another interesting point to note is that the Climate Research Center at the University of Alaska shows that there has been no warming trend in Alaska since 1977. In fact, the trend is slightly negative.

The president is promoting an agenda whose most prominent part is the Clean Power Plant (CPP). But, the agenda and the CPP are based on three bits of fraud.

The first is the assertion that carbon dioxide is dirty. Carbon dioxide is a colorless, odorless, and non-toxic gas. The president and his supporters keep referring to it as “carbon pollution.” The also assert that, until the CPP, there were no regulations on the amount of “carbon pollution” power plants could emit.

Carbon pollution does exist, but it is not carbon dioxide. The common name for carbon pollution is “soot,” and there have been regulatory limits on soot for decades. Due to these limits and the general improvement in technology, a modern coal-fired plant cuts soot emissions by more than 99 percent compared to plants without the new technology. In spite of the phenomenal increase in power production since the late 1970s, total air pollution has actually declined significantly.

Second, virtually all current extreme weather is blamed on global warming/climate change, with the inevitable prediction of worse to come. However, data from NOAA and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change contradict this fear-mongering. No trends in hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, or floods show. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, we were warned by the global warming/climate change alarmists that we would be seeing numerous stronger hurricanes.

According to NPR, yes, NPR, no major hurricanes have hit the U.S. since 2005. Well, what about “Super Storm Sandy that caused major destruction in the northeast in 2012? Sandy was a Category 2 storm when it was hugging the northeastern coast. It was also a large hurricane. It swept through the most densely populated areas in the United States. Of course, since it was in the northeast, it got boatloads of media attention. If Sandy had made landfall in Mississippi, Alabama, or the Florida panhandle, it wouldn’t have received near the media attention it did, nor would it have reeked the devastation that it did.

On April 27, 2011, the state of Alabama witnessed the worst tornado outbreak since a 1930s outbreak. Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia were also hard hit. This was also caused by global warming/climate change and it was George Bush’s fault. Prognosticators indicated that outbreaks like the one of 4/27 were a taste of things to come. We’ve had some tornadoes since then in Dixie Alley and in the Midwest. This year, though, in the spring, Dixie Alley was quiet. November is secondary tornado season in Dixie Alley. We’ll have to see what November brings. The tornado outbreaks of 4/27/2011 plus the 1930s outbreak, and the outbreak of 1974, are generational. Again, there appears to be no evidence of increase in tornadoes and their intensity.

The third bit is that the CPP is a climate change policy. Using the EPA’s own climate model, climatologists at the Cato Institute calculated the impact of the CPP on world temperature. Results showed that by the end of this century, the CPPs maximum impact would reduce world temperature by 0.019 degrees, well within the margin of error. The projected impact on sea level rise is equally ridiculous, just 0.01 inches by 2100.

Furthermore, according to the Daily Signal’s article, the CPP’s climate benefit may be negligible and distant, but the CPP’s economic cost will be large and immediate. According to the Energy Information Administration, in the decade of the 2020s, lost GDP will total $1 trillion, and total employment will fall by as much as 500,000 jobs.

This should be so obvious to anyone with a breath of air left in them that the CPP is just another plan to grab power and money, your money. Just like the ACA? Absolutely.

Every time I hint that man-made climate change is a fraud, liberals come out of the woodwork indicating that there are so many more articles by scientists confirming man-made climate change than there are scientists who refute man-made climate change. It appears to me, though, more and more articles are being written refuting it.

If the liberals/progressives are the staunch supporters of middle and low income earners, you would think that they would be searching for facts that would support man-made climate change as not real. Instead, liberals/progressives desire to eliminate fossil fuels in favor of green energy sources. Fossil fuels provide inexpensive and reliable sources of energy which certainly benefits the middle and lower classes. To date, green energy has a long way to go. It’s expensive and not reliable.

The direction that liberals/progressives are taking us doesn’t make sense, unless they have a hidden agenda. And, of course, they do. As I said above, it’s to simply snatch up, from the private sector, as much as possible, and place it under the government umbrella. Thus just another power and money grab.

LAME DUCK – PART TWO

On August 24, liberal publication, Mother Jones, ran an article outlining things that the current president has done after January 2015 when he officially became a lame duck president. Of course, liberals think these things are great. The following is a discussion of five more of these items.

The current president successfully argued in favor of same-sex marriage before the Supreme Court: He did not. How can Mother Jones tell such a whopper? Of course he was against same-sex marriage when he was campaigning, but has now flip-flopped on the issue. The same-sex marriage ruling by the Supreme Court has put many Americans in direct conflict with their faith. We all know the story about the baker who would not bake a cake for a same-sex wedding. Instead of simply finding another baker, the couple, with the support of liberals, took steps to destroy the baker’s business. I have also seen some liberals calling for the firing of folks working at court houses who refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Americans shouldn’t have to choose between their livelihood and their faith. This ruling is a scourge.

The current president has put in place economic sanctions on Russia that have Vladimir Putin reeling: In December 2014, the current president said, through a spokesman, that he would sign newly passed legislation expanding measure intended to cordon off large Russian state firms from Western financing and technology while also providing $350 million in arms and military equipment to Ukraine as it battles a pro-Russian insurgency in its eastern regions. According to the New York Times, the president was not in favor of this legislation, but Congress passed the measure without opposition, making a veto politically untenable.

The current president pressured the FCC to approve net neutrality rules: According to thehill.com, a House appropriations bill released Wednesday would block the Federal Communication Commission from implementing its net neutrality rules until the courts weigh in on the issue. The rules, adopted earlier this year and supported by the current president reclassify Internet providers as utilities, and would prohibit broadband and mobile carriers from selectively blocking or slowing Web traffic. The rules also reclassify broadband as a regulated common-carrier service, instead of treating it as a lightly regulated information service, as the FCC has done for the past decade.

This government overreach measure is going to be tied up in the courts for a while. I wouldn’t exactly call this an accomplishment by the current administration.

Issued new EPA coal regulations: On Monday, June 29, 2015, the Supreme Court blocked one of the Obama administration’s most ambitious environmental initiatives, an EPA regulation meant to limit emissions of mercury and other toxic pollutants from coal-fired power plants.

Industry groups and about 20 states had challenged the EPA’s decision to regulate emissions, saying the agency had failed to take into account the punishing costs its rule would impose. This is from the New York Times.

This was certainly not good for the middle class/working class. Thank goodness the highest court in the land has blocked it. However, on August 3, 2015, the current president and the EPA announced the Clean Power Plan – a historic and important step in reducing carbon pollution from power plants that takes real action on climate change. Here we go again…war on the middle class/working class.

Issued an executive order on immigration: In June Judges Jennifer Walker Elrod and Jerry Smith dealt a significant blow to the current president’s executive actions on immigration. The judges will also play key roles in deciding whether the controversial programs are legally sound. This is a lawless executive order that is being held up in the courts.

The above is more of this president’s attempt to destroy the middle class and make it difficult on small businesses.

LAME DUCK – PART ONE

The American people handed the current president of the United States a stunning defeat in the 2014 mid-term elections. The Republicans maintained leadership of the House of Representatives and gained a majority in the Senate. However, they didn’t obtain a super majority of 60. However, the current president said he had a pen and he had a phone and he intended to use them. And he has by signing executive orders and the only way this can be stopped is through the courts. He justifies his actions by stating that he’s doing what is good for the country. If a Republican did the same think, claiming his or her actions were good for the country, the mainstream media would be exploding. The following is a summary of three things that the current president has done, according to motherjones.com, none are good.

Normalized Relations with Cuba:
According to newsmax.com, the Obama administration is easing travel and some economic restrictions against Cuba after coming out in support of normalizing relations with the Communist regime. This is raising fears among many of a total lifting of the trade embargo against the island nation.

Would lifting the embargo benefit the Cuban people of just benefit the Castro regime? Most of the Cuban economy is government owned and all foreign trade is channeled through Cuban government agencies. Companies pay wages in hard currency, including dollars and euros, but the Cuban government pays its workers in Cuban pesos and pockets about 90% of the wages.

Decades of trade between Cuba and the market economies of Europe, Canada, and Latin America have not produced the political and economic benefits to the people of Cuba. This has lined the pockets of the Castro regime and the Cuban people have not been beneficiaries.

Obama claimed the regime would release all political prisoners, but it has not. So, we’ve entered into an agreement with a deadbeat nation that refuses to honor its commitments. It has defaulted on its estimated $37 billion debt to the Paris Club of Nations. Russia has been forced to write off Cuba’s $32 million debt, and Mexico wrote off $340 million of Cuba’s debt.
Americans want free trade with free people and not relations that strengthen an authoritarian regime’s oppression of its people.

Cuba has not met the conditions agreed upon prior to lifting the embargo. Cuba was supposed to legalize all political activity, release political prisoners, commit to free and fair elections, grand freedom of the press, and allow labor unions. Cuba has not met these conditions and, of course, that sends a message to the world that the Unites States is weak.

Also, Cuba remains on the U.S. “State Sponsors of Terrorism” list. The country has provided sanctuary for terrorists from other nations and has harbored American fugitives. Black Panther activist and convicted murderer Jo Anne Chesimard is among the 90 or more criminals who fled America and received political asylum in Cuba.

The American people are opposed to lifting the embargo. A poll last year found that a slight majority still want the sanctions to remain in place. More importantly, an even larger majority of Cuban-Americans, who know the situation best, favor keeping the embargo in place.

Of course, the current president’s worshippers, including the mainstream media, think this is a great thing, but anything this president does they are going to think is great.

Climate Deal with China:
According to nationalreview.com, when the United States and China announced a surprise carbon-emissions deal, the leftists were ecstatic. Al Gore declared it groundbreaking progress form the world’s largest polluter and John Kerry patted himself on the back. However, when the deal was stuck with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Chinese were laughing at us. Nothing was going to stop China from moving full speed ahead with its economic development plans that rely heavily on cheap and abundant fossil fuels.

In December, 2014, the South China Morning Post announced that Chinese negotiators rejected the scrutiny to limit carbon emissions. In other words, the Chinese refuse to agree to measurable and enforceable carbon reduction targets. According to dailycaller.com, the U.S. China climate deal unraveled during the U.N. climate talks. Chinese delegates demanded more climate aid be sent from rich countries to poor countries, and refused to agree to certain U.S. backed provisions in a climate treaty draft.

So liberal rag, motherjones.com, in an August 24, 2015 article, cites this as an Obama lame duck accomplishment. Not true!
Issued New EPA Ozone Rules:
On Wednesday, November 26, 2014, the current president check off another major items on environmentalists’ wish list by targeting smog, but angered big business and giving Republicans fresh ammunition heading into the final two years of Obama’s presidency. According to washingtontimes.com, the EPA has released new tentative rules on ozone, meant to drastically cut the amount of smog produced by power plants and factories. The proposal would lower the threshold for ozone from 75 ppb to 70 ppb and are shooting for 65 ppb.

With the full backing of environmental activists, administration officials have become brazen toward their critics. White House counselor, John Podesta has gone so far as to brag that the GOP can’t stop more executive actions and climate regulations.

Critics say it’s obvious the regulations will create a serious burden. EPA data, cited by groups such as the Business Roundtable, show that 59 percent of the U.S. population lives in an area that did not meet the 65 ppb threshold.

The National Association of Manufacturers called the rules “the most expensive regulation ever imposed on the American public. In a July study, the organization calculated that the rule would reduce U.S. gross domestic product by 3.4 trillion from 2017 to 40 and cut about 2.9 million jobs per year on average through 2040.
This doesn’t sound too good to me, but of course, the liberals love it.
