MORE THOUGHTS ON COLIN KAEPERNICK

The following is a continuation of my September 2, 2016 article about the San Francisco 49er quarterback, Colin Kaepernick who refuses to stand while the national anthem is played before San Francisco football games. Some of the following is re-hash, but I’ve also injected new areas of thought.

There’s several pieces to the Colin Kaepernick saga. First of all, he does have the right to sit or kneel while the national anthem is played before San Francisco 49ers football games. Plus everyone else has a right to their opinion about it. Colin is employed by the San Francisco 49ers organization and while he is acting in the course and scope of his employment by San Francisco, he has to do what they say. As his employer, the 49ers’ organization, in my opinion, should tell him to stand. If he doesn’t, he’s out the door. But the NFL and its associated teams have become very leftist over the years, and I guess it didn’t occur to them to just simply tell Mr. Kaepernick, “Yes, you will stand for the national anthem.” But neither the NFL nor the San Francisco 49ers are going to tell him that. So, we’re moving on.

When CK says that American is a nation that oppresses blacks and other people of color, my initial thoughts were just how is happening. Civil Rights legislation was passed in 1964. Subsequently, there was the implementation of Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society in the mid-sixties, where we were told that for a few dollars more a month from taxpayers, we would be able to eradicate poverty among blacks as well as whites. Following the implementation of the Great Society, Affirmative Action legislation was passed and programs were implemented whereby blacks had the opportunity to achieve at the same level as whites without meeting the same requirements as whites. In the late seventies, under the Carter administration, the Community Reinvestment Act was passed which basically allowed banks to lend money to buy houses to people who were not financially able to qualify for a loan to purchase a home. This allowed many blacks to obtain loans to purchase homes.

But wait, these programs haven’t worked. These programs have done nothing to help blacks and other people of color. Instead it could be said that these programs have oppressed blacks and other people of color. Maybe Colin Kaepernick has a point. But I don’t think this is what he and other liberals meant. The above programs plus the rise to power and prominence of teachers’ unions in this country have all contributed to the increased crime rates, increased poverty rates, the dissolution of the nuclear family, and the failing schools which are all prevalent in the black community.

In the second decade of the 21st century, over a half century since Civil Rights legislation was passed and signed into law, terms like “black community” shouldn’t exist except for historical documentation purposes.

One of the programs I cited as detrimental to blacks and other people of color is Affirmative Action, according to the conservative website, Wing Nut Gal, in an article dated October 29, 2014, “Affirmative action is one of the most racist and bigoted practices in the United States of America today. It says to minorities that you’re not good enough to make it in the “white man’s world.” You’re inferior. And because you’re inferior, we’re going to help you because we’re your friends.”  To read the entire article visit The Racist, Bigoted Policy of Affirmative Action.

In the next few days, I will be examining other policies, birthed by liberals that are serving to oppress blacks and other people of color. And you know something, these policies aren’t helping us white folks out much either.

THE REAL PARTY OF RACISM

While I’ve written on this topic previously, it’s a topic that needs to be regularly reinforced to the general public so that low information voters who would rather watch mindless TV rather than the news, be reminded that it is indeed the Democrat party that is the real party of racism.

How many times have we heard that we Republicans are racists, bigots, haters of minorities, haters of the poor, etc.?

How many times have we been told that we’re going to hell because we don’t support government programs that are designed to help the poor, because in the Bible, Jesus tells us that we are to help the poor? How many times have we been called names and had our intelligence insulted by Democrats? If you’re a political, semi-public figure who “puts your views out there,” you’re the victim of liberal vitriol.

I have a black friend who is very liberal and a big Obama supporter. This particular friend assumes that every white person she meets is racist. She once implied that about a friend of mine that I had introduced her to. Without getting into the details of our conversation, she indicated to me when he had left the table that, “he might be racist.” I lost my cool and suggested that she get over it, get out of the sixties and into the twenty-first century. “I guess I made a bad joke,” she said. I was mad and still am about that incident.

Of course, we all know that the current president of the United States is the king of racism. If there is a conflict or dust-up between someone white and someone back, the current president, without bothering to learn the facts, always takes the side of the black person, even though the current president is half black and half white. He even called his grandmother a “typical white woman.” If I had used the term, “typical black woman (or man)” in any of my conversations and someone black heard it, I probably wouldn’t be alive today.

First Lady, Michelle Obama, tells blacks to just vote Democrat and have some fried chicken.

First Lady, Michelle Obama, tells blacks to just vote Democrat and have some fried chicken.

And what about first lady, Michelle Obama? According to dailycaller.com, Mrs. Obama, on TV One, a network operating under the motto, “Where Black Life Unfolds,” told News One Daily host, Roland Martin, “And that’s my message to voters, this isn’t about Barak, it’s not about the person on that ballot, it’s about you. And for most of the people we are talking to, a Democratic ticket is the clear ticket that we should be voting on, regardless of who said what or did this-that shouldn’t even come into the equation.” Then, in the full audio of the interview, Michelle Obama gives everyone who votes permission to eat fried chicken.

Some of the conservative talking heads were upset about the first lady giving black voters permission to go out and eat fried chicken, because fried chicken is an unhealthy, but tasty, food consumed in large quantities by members of the black community. Fried chicken is a staple here in the south and everybody eats it. However, we don’t consume it as much as we did, let’s say, thirty years ago because it’s not really good for you.

While this southern conservative blogger didn’t get so much upset with Michelle’s fried chicken remark, I did get very upset with her indicating that you just need to vote Democrat. It’s not about the candidates on the ballot or the issues involved. Just vote Democrat and the Democrats will take care of you. And while Mrs. Obama didn’t use those exact words, that’s what she was implying. That remark made me furious. Talk about keeping them down on the plantation!

If the first lady felt that voting Democrat was in the best interest of her audience, then why didn’t she back that up with some facts and figures? Then, why didn’t she encourage those in the audience to be informed voters and research the political parties in order to decide for themselves?

Sounds like FLOTUS doesn’t want her fellow blacks to be informed and educated. She only wants them voting Democrat so the political elites in the Democrat party can maintain proper control over their constituents. Can’t have them getting too informed, can we? They just might revolt and vote Republican.

I previously devoted an entire blog post to Affirmative Action, but will take some time now to re-inforce that Affirmative Action is a statement to minorities by liberals telling them that because they are too stupid to make it in the real world, they need the help of the liberals. In other words, they need test scores lowered, credit scores lowered, etc. in order to gain entrance to college, purchase a home, etc. I just don’t think that’s true, but apparently the Democrats do and will continue to beat down minorities, making it impossible for them to climb upward. Of course, liberals will then blame the whites, particularly the white Republicans for the lack of upward mobility of minorities.

A black liberal friend who was in favor of Affirmative Action told me that she didn’t know anyone who had gotten a job through Affirmative Action programs. I promptly answered her as follows: “If that’s so, then why do we need it?” She was speechless.

THE RACIST, BIGOTED POLICY OF AFFIRMATIVE ACTION

I reside in Central Alabama, one of the major Republican strong-holds in the nation. Yet we do have a lot of Democrats here. Furthermore, it’s been my observation that the Democrats who live here are more difficult to deal with and have a reasonable discussion with than, let’s say, Democrats in Massachusetts. Why is that? I tend to think it’s because they are vastly outnumbered here in the American Southeast. I’ve noted that some of them refer to themselves as bright blue dots in a sea of red. I really think they have a complex about it. They can’t win an argument on the facts, so they resort to hurling insults and name-calling when challenged. These “bright blue dots” are always pontificating about all of the injustices in this nation and how the Republicans hate the poor, hate minorities, hate the elderly…yada, yada, yada. I’ve posted about this and indicated that it’s nothing but BS and cited reasons why.

One of the things that I am accused of is being racist when I don’t support the current president’s policies. I’m also called a racist when I say that I don’t support affirmative action. Duh! Affirmative action is one of the most racist and bigoted practices in the United States of America today. It says to minorities that you’re not good enough to make it in the “white man’s world.” You’re inferior. And because you’re inferior, we’re going to help you because we’re your friends. While we don’t have twenty acres and a mule to give you, we’re going to give you better things. We’re going to lower the standards for you so you can get into colleges, graduate programs, medical school, law school, etc. without having to score as high on the entrance exams as your white counter parts. We’re also going to allow you get loans for houses, cars, etc. with lower credit scores than your white counterparts.

However, when you get that medical degree and become a doctor, don’t expect me or any or my family members to patronize you. Also, when you are able to get the loan to buy that fancy house in that fancy neighborhood, just make sure that you purchase a fancy house in a fancy neighborhood that’s a long, long way from my fancy house and my fancy neighborhood.

A number of years ago, I was having a political discussion with a cousin who is now deceased. This particular cousin was a strong Democrat, highly intelligent, but in effect, didn’t know squat. When I indicated that I was not a proponent of affirmative action, she promptly replied that her husband worked with several outstanding blacks. “So,” I replied. “What does that have to do with affirmative action?” She looked at me funny. Sure, I could have jerked her chain a while longer, but I chose not to. I just explained that if her husband’s colleagues were so great, then why did they need affirmative action. My cousin was doing what a lot of folks, especially liberals, do. She was confusing affirmative action with equal opportunity when the two are nothing like.

With equal opportunity you are encouraged to submit your resume and it will be evaluated along with everyone else’s resume and not with regards to race, gender, ethnicity, etc. With equal opportunity, you are submitted a test to take and have to score at a certain level to go to the next level. On the other hand, with affirmative action, we’re going to do you favors because we’re your friends. But in actuality, you’re inferior, so you need our help. And when you accept our help, you will be beholden to us for the rest of your life. But again, don’t expect me to have dinner with you or invite you into my home.

In addition to my Democrat cousin, I had a very liberal/Democrat aunt who is also now deceased. Talk about looking down your nose at minorities, she was the poster child for it. Of course, she was all for social programs that purportedly helped these inferior people. When I told her that I had a lot of black friends and we have dinner together and even take trips together, I thought she was going to have a stroke. But according to liberals/Democrats, I’m the racist bigot because I judge people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. I’m the racist bigot because, if there’s a house for sale next door to my house, I tell any and all of my friends who are looking for a house, to “check it out.”

Another time, a Democrat friend of mine, who is black, told me that she didn’t know of anyone who got their job, house, car, education through affirmative action. Well, she just made my point. If no one is “benefitting” from affirmative action, they obviously don’t need it. So, let’s do away with it.

REPUBLICANS VS DEMOCRATS

My Observations:
• Democrats tend to live in the densely populated areas of the northeast and the west coast. They also tend to reside in the major metropolitan areas of Chicago, Illinois and Detroit, Michigan. All of the other areas are majority republican.
• Blacks overwhelmingly vote democrat while majority of whites do vote republican, but it’s not an overwhelming majority. The majority of Hispanics vote democrat.
• Educators and academics tend to vote democrat. White collar private sector professionals tend to vote republican.
• White males tend to vote republican while single women tend to vote democrat, except in the South where the majority vote republican.
• Entertainment professionals tend to vote democrat, but there is a large contingency of country music entertainers that vote republican.

Why do certain groups vote like they do? No one is better off under democrat policies except maybe those who have nothing at all, the bottom rung of society. While I generally say that most people on the street are actually republicans, but may disagree with the party on certain individual issues, I’ve found that most of the issues that folks have with Republicans are the abortion and affirmative action issues. It’s been my observation that many women decide upon a candidate based on whether or not the candidate is pro-choice. Also, many minorities vote based upon affirmative action because they equate affirmative action with equal rights; when, in fact, the two are very different (details are for a separate post).

While no black individual will admit it, if there’s a black candidate running for public office as a democrat, the blacks will overwhelmingly vote for him or her regardless of qualifications, stance on the issues, or character. Before the 2008 presidential election when the two top democrat candidates were Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama, I asked a black friend who she was supporting and she looked at me like I was crazy, saying, “Obama, of course.” But, on the other hand, if I assumed she was supporting Obama, I would have committed a racist act. Sometimes you just can’t win.

Many Hispanics vote democrat because of the immigration issue where Democrats take a more favorable stance on illegal immigration than Republicans do. Those that are on the far left would like to see citizenship given to most illegals. If I had come to this country and obtained my citizenship the right way, I’d certainly want everyone else to do the same. So, I don’t necessarily understand this.

Another group, not included above, that tends to vote democrat is the trial lawyers. Many trial lawyers make their living by handling the plaintiffs’ side in civil lawsuits. They collect anywhere from 33% to 50% of the proceeds obtained by and for the plaintiff. Because Democrats are generally soft on tort reform and portray themselves as champions of the “little guy,” trial lawyers stand to profit more when Democrats are in office.
