KILLING SNAKES

We all know the story of “Adam and Eve” in the Bible. After God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the Garden of Eden, he told them not to eat the fruit of a certain tree located in the lush paradise. We also know that Eve was tempted by Satan, who had taken on the form of a snake, to partake of the fruit from the forbidden tree. Eve ate the fruit and gave some to Adam, who also ate the fruit. Adam and Eve were subsequently driven out of the Garden of Eden by God. For tempting the woman, God cursed the snake and made it to crawl on its belly. Furthermore, the snakes would from then on be hated by mankind and killed for no other reason than that they were snakes.

Until recently, killing snakes was no big deal, even if they were the non-poisonous kind. About the only snake that was not subject to being killed just because it was a snake was the king snake. King snakes do kill poisonous snakes and have always been considered good snakes. Here in the south where snakes, both poisonous and non-poisonous are abundant, killing snakes is common. It’s often done for sport.

With the ushering in of political correctness by the left, we are now being indoctrinated by the animal rights wing of the Democrat party that you shouldn’t kill snakes, even poisonous snakes. It fact, liberals are now saying that you should not use the phrase, “poisonous snake.” Instead you should refer to the snake as “venomous.” I don’t care which of these two terms you use, getting bit by one of these snakes can kill you if medical help is not sought.

For about the last five or six years, here in the state of Alabama, and I assume anywhere in the south, snakes have come out of winter hibernation in droves. Forestry agents have warned people to be very careful, especially when walking in wooded areas, and around rock formations. On social media, pictures have been posted of snakes hanging out in very unlikely areas such as gas station pumps.

The most common poisonous snake in Alabama, and in most of the south, is the copperhead. The copperhead is generally a small snake and can easily camouflage itself around leaves, grass, and sticks. I’ve heard my Daddy say that a bite from a copperhead won’t kill an adult man, but you’ll swell up and get so sick that you think you’re going to die. Thus, medical attention must be sought after a bite. Other poisonous snakes found in Alabama include the cottonmouth/water moccasin, the timber rattler, and the coral snake. Most bites to humans in Alabama come from copperheads and cottonmouths.

In addition to there being more snakes out and about the last several years, snakes seem to have grown bigger. I indicated above that copperheads are generally small snakes, but many folks have reported seeing the snake up to six feet in length, and as big around as a  man’s thigh.

Snakes are generally thought to hibernate in cooler weather with many of them dying due to the cold. Thus, in late fall and winter, we don’t think much about snakes, and the possibility of running up on them.

With the left, particularly the animal rights wing preaching to us that we shouldn’t kill snakes, poisonous or not, because they are a major part of the eco-system. Poisonous snakes are known for keeping the rodent population in check.

After contemplating the reasons for more snakes and bigger snakes in Alabama, I came up with the following: God cursed the snake, indicating that the snake would be a hated creature and killed for no other reason than the snake was a snake.

Now, we’re not doing that. We’re not killing snakes just because we see one. We’re letting the snake live because it is so vital to our eco-system.

Winter here in the south has been harsher than usual. Al Gore and Democrats blames the extreme cold that is gripping the nation on global warming, the result of President Donald Trump pulling the United States out of the Paris Accord.

On January 7, a picture, taken in Tallassee, Alabama was posted on Facebook of an extremely large cottonmouth/water moccasin on top of ice that had formed on a creek in a wooded area. The person who posted the picture said that the snake seemed lethargic and near death. It probably was closed to freezing to death. If properly armed, the photographer would have been wise to kill that snake immediately.

In reading the comments, it surprised me that so many folks felt sorry for this satanic creature and thought its life should be spared. Several the commenters preached that if you leave these snakes alone, they will leave you alone. That’s not always the case. In fact, I had a close encounter with a cottonmouth while skiing at a local lake years ago. I spilled in the vicinity of the snake, who went after me. I barely made it into the boat before he sunk his fangs in me. I guess the typical liberal response would be, you shouldn’t have been skiing on the lake, that’s the territory of the snakes and the fishes.

Back to my theory that because the animal rights whackos advocate that we should not kill snakes is why there are so many of them out and about, and why so many are becoming gigantic. When I asked my minister about this, he rolled his eyes and said, “I don’t know.”

I’ve approached a few other Christian friends about this, and I get the same reaction. Well, I think it’s legit. We’re not killing off snakes like we used to and they are multiplying and growing. Could it possibly be global warming because President Trump pulled the United States out of the Paris Accord? Ask a liberal and see what they say.

CLIMATE CHANGE ALARMISTS

In 2015, then President Barack Obama signed into law, the Clean Power Plan to slow the rate of climate change or global warming. It was to cut carbon pollution from existing power plants. According to townhall.com, it was the first action of the United States government to do so.

Earlier in the week, President Donald Trump signed an executive order, directing the EPA to abolish this legislation. As you can imagine, the left went bonkers.

John Hawkins, in an article on townhall.com, entitled, 5 Reasons It’s Dumb to Panic Over Global Warming, listed quotes from some well-known liberals. Van Jones, Communist, and Obama’s special advisor for Green Jobs, was quoted as saying, “Trump may have just signed a death warrant for our planet (at least, a planet that is livable for humans). And the lies he told to justify it have real consequences for real Americans, her and now.”

Another quote, this time from our friend, Michael More: “Historians in the near future will mark today, March 28, 2017, as the day the extinction of human life on earth began, thanks 2 Donald Trump…Trump has signed orders killing all of Obama’s climate change regulations. The EPA is prohibited henceforth from focusing on climate change.”

Mr. Hawkins points out that the left doesn’t worry about deficits, terrorists, health care costs, out of control spending, teachers’ unions’ strong-hold over public education, the government’s out of control spending, etc. Instead they freak out and the possibility of the planet burning 100 years from now.

The 5 reasons not to panic over climate change/global warming are as follows:

1.There is Actually No Scientific Consensus on Global Warming. Whenever any of us conservatives indicates that climate change/global warming is a hoax, particularly man-made climate change, the left always throws out that 97% figure representing the percentage of scientists that think that man-made climate change is real. Mr. Hawkins says that’s simply untrue, and reflects that, “A 2012 poll of American Meteorological Society members also reported a diversity of opinion. Of the 1862 members who responded, 59% stated that human activity was the primary cause of global warming, and 11 percent attributed to the phenomenon to human activity and natural causes in about equal measure, while just under a quarter, 23 percent, said enough is not yet known to make a determination.” Then last year, it was found that nearly six in ten climate scientists didn’t adhere to the so-called consensus on man-made climate change, per a study by the Dutch government.
2.Even if Global Warming is Happening and Mankind is Responsible, it may still make Sense to do Nothing. Former Secretary of State John Kerry, called climate change, “perhaps the most fearsome weapon of mass destruction,” and claims that unless we act, it could pose “the most catastrophic, grave threats in the history of human life.” Yet the UN Climate Panel found that the total cost of climate change by the 2070s is less than 2% of GCP. This means global warming is a problem, but is not by any means the end of the world. Its cost is equivalent to a single year of recession over the next 60 years. This comes from Bjorn Lomberg, of nationalpost.com in an article dated September 23, 2014. When you compare the threat, which we’re not sure is actually a threat, of climate change to what the world faces now, we acting like the person who is seriously injured in an automobile accident, but obsesses over the fact that her new Vera Wang dress was ruined.
3.Global Warming Theories are more Art than Science. Mr. Hawkins reminds us that we live in a world where scientists cannot tell us for sure whether it’s going to rain tomorrow, but we still have people assuring us of what the weather is going to be like in 100 years. Climate models used by scientists to predict how much human activities will warm the planet have been over-predicting global warming for the last six decades, according to a recent working paper by climate scientists, Michaels and Knappenberger. Climate models used to predict global warming have been consistently and egregiously wrong for decades.
4.We Don’t Have a Good Way to Even Know What Temperatures Were Centuries Ago. You often hear claims that every year is supposedly the “hottest on record.” Yet, we only started doing meaningful worldwide measurements in 1880, and many of those early numbers are considered to be unreliable. It’s been a mild winter in central Alabama. In fact, there have been very few days that I wore a winter coat, but do work out of my home. There were probably some days that I just didn’t go outside. We broke and came close to breaking a number of records for highest temperature on a number of days. It seemed like most of those record-breaking or near record-breaking days went back to the early 1900s. This leads me to think that we many have been in a warm cycle similar to the one that some say we are in today, back then. Also, when I was growing up in the North Alabama town of Cullman, about sixty miles north of where I live now, we would have at least one three to six-inch snow every winter. That’s not happening now, although Cullman did have about a three-inch winter before last. When I was in high school, our regular football season ended the first week in November. For the last two or three games, it was always cold. Now it’s not, leaving me to conclude that our climate is cyclical.
5.We’re in the Middle of a Global Warming Pause. Mr. Hawkins questions how we can be in a pause if liberals are claiming that we just broke a new record with every passing year. Because these “record-breaking years” are within the statistical margin of error.

To a reasonable and prudent individual, the above should bring to the conclusion that the validity of climate change/global warming is unconfirmed and questionable. Yet, folks like Al Gore, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and Gina McCarthy all have insisted on many different occasions that “it’s settled, climate change/global warming exists.

Furthermore, these are other far-left zealots won’t even acknowledge studies or new statistics that affirms otherwise.

I know you’re probably tired of reading this, but I’m not going to stop. If Democrats, liberals, progressives, or whatever they want to call themselves, were the champions of the middle class and lower income individuals they claim to be, they would jump at any chance to disprove climate change, and not be in such a whirlwind to snatch us off of fossil fuels, a source of inexpensive and reliable energy, and transition us to the more expensive and unreliable green energy sources.

CLIMATE CHANGE SUMMIT IN PARIS, OUR PRAYERS ARE ANSWERED

The United Nations conference on climate change will take place from November 30, 2015 to December 11, 2015 in Paris, France. Last week the current president of the United States said the following, “What a powerful rebuke to the terrorists it will be, when the world stands as one and shows that we will not be deterred from building a better future for our children.”

I often refer to myself as an unenlightened oaf because I’m one of those southern white conservative Christians who the liberals hate. The only good thing about folks like me is that I’m part of a group that you can make fun of and still maintain your aura of political correctness. I call myself an unenlightened oaf because I don’t often understand liberal logic and the way liberals often try to spin their way out of situations where their backs were against the wall. I’ve often said that I may not be a smart as liberals because liberals had a large percent of academicians in their corner. In other words, most school teachers and college professors fall in line with the left. Of course, I say all of this tongue and cheek.

The gloves are coming off and I’m going to call it like I see it. I began using the sarcastic term, “tolerant left,” to refer to liberals who claim to be so tolerant and understanding of other people’s feelings and views, when in fact liberals are the most racist, bigoted, and intolerant people on the planet. Earlier today, I came up with another phrase that might be useful to describe liberals, “liberal dumb.”

To say that the United Nations conference on climate change, COP21, will have an impact in the war on terrorism, is beyond liberal dumb, its shear lunacy. I can’t imagine even the most delusional Obama zombie could fall for something like this.

According to CNN, world leaders opened pivotal climate talks Monday in Paris, saying the stakes are too high to end the conference without achieving a binding agreement to help slow the pace of global climate change. “A political moment like this may not come again, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told leaders gathered for the conference. “We have never faced such a test. But neither have we encountered such great opportunity.”

The current President has said the following, “What greater rejection of those who would tear down our world than marshaling our best efforts to save it.” French President Francois Hollande noted that “never have the stakes been so high because this is about the future of the planet, the future of life.”

It’s time for me to ask a question. How in the world is this climate change conference going to stop the activities of ISIS and other terrorist groups. Even if climate change was real and not a great hoax that politicians are trying to level on us in order to take more control over our lives and eventually create a one world government, it would take time to decide on methods to combat climate change and to implement them. After implementation, wouldn’t it take some time for the effects to be scene? In the meantime, what are ISIS and other terrorist groups going to do? Wait until the climate improves and it’s not so hot where they are? Get jobs and quit their terrorist activities? Of course, the President of the United States thinks that just seeing world leaders make an effort to combat climate change will cause them to change their ways for the better.

Millions of Americans fell for, “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.” They also fell for, “health insurance premiums will decrease approximately $2,500 a year. I can see low information voters falling for this, voters who rarely watch the news and when they do, they get their news from one of the big three main stream media sources. My limited vocabulary does not allow me to describe how looney, delusional, and insane it is to think the COP21 conference will make ISIS and other terrorist groups cease their activities because they will now have hope that the world will become a better place. It’s always been hot in the Middle East and it will always be hot in the Middle East. Besides, if temps were to cool down in the Middle East, the liberals would blame it on climate change which, of course is the fault of George W. Bush, Fox News, and Christians.
