PRESIDENT TRUMP’S REFUGEE EXECUTIVE ORDER

The following is a brief article about President Trump’s Refugee Executive order, illustrating points that the reader should be able to use when having a conversation with if liberal, if it comes to that.

According to National Review, the order does the following:

  • Temporarily halts refugee admissions for 120 days to improve the vetting process.
  • Caps refugee admissions at 50,000 per year.
  • The order imposes a temporary 90-day ban on people entering the U.S. from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. These are countries either torn apart by jihadist violence or under the control of hostile, jihadist governments.
  • The ban is in place while the Department of Homeland Security determines the information needed from any country to adjudicate any visa, admission, or other benefit under the INA in order to determine that the individual seeking the benefit is who the individual claims to be and is not a security or public safety threat.
  • Included in the ban is an important exception that Secretaries of State and Homeland Security may, on a case-by-case basis, and when in the national interest, issue visas or other immigration benefits to nationals of countries for which visas and benefits are otherwise blocked. Hopefully this would allow interpreters and other proven allies to enter the U.S. during the 90-day period.
  • The president’s order also puts an indefinite hold on admission of Syrian refugees to the U.S. until such time as it is determined that sufficient changes have been made to the USRAP to ensure that admission of Syrian refugees is consistent with the national interest. This is largely a return to the order the Obama administration had in place from 2011 to 2014, virtually slamming the door on Syrian refugee admissions.
  • President Trump also issued a directive to “prioritize refugee claims made by individuals on the basis of religious-based persecution, provided that the religion of the individual is a minority religion in the individual’s country of nationality.”

Trump’s Executive Order on Refugees – Separating Fact from Hysteria

According to theconservativetreehouse.com,  there are two aspects to the Trump refugee executive order.

President Trump Releases Statement – U.S. Media Officially Twisted Like Pretzels

  • One aspect pertains to a 120-day pause on Syrian refugees.
  • The second aspect pertains to a 90-day pause on visas for seven countries outlined as “nations of concern” by prior law and Obama’s DHS policy.

Against the reality of President Trump simply following an almost identical refugee pause process as did Barack Obama in 2011, the media are twisting in the wind trying to make Trump into the evil persona they believe he is while maintaining that former President Obama is a saint. Obama put a six month ban on Iraqi refugees in 2011 and the media was silent, while Trump puts a 120-day suspension on Syrian refugees in 2017 and the media explodes. Furthermore, Obama selects seven countries for enhanced visa security policy and the media is silent while President Trump uses the same Obama DHS policy and the same seven countries for a 90-day visa suspension and the media explodes.

According to the New York Times, a growing group of Republican lawmakers criticized the president’s refugee policy. On Sunday, January 29, certain Republicans said the process, while initiated with the right intention, had been too hastily enacted, and warned that it could backfire against U.S. interests. Senators John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, led the criticism, saying in a statement that the president’s order was not properly vetted and that it could be seen as the United States turning its back on Muslims who had risked their lives to serve as interpreters for the country’s military and diplomats.

Growing Number of GOP Lawmakers Criticize Trump’s Refugee Policy

McCain said the plan was carried out without proper consultation of United States allies and that it mistakenly lumped together the country’s adversaries such as Iran, with allies like Iraq. Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, said that while he supported stronger screening, the order had been poorly implanted, especially for green card holders.

Democrats didn’t waste any time in displaying their dislike of the refugee executive order by showing up in airports across the country. Obviously, these protestors didn’t bother to study the aspects of the order, having only a desire to protest the new president and inconvenience as many travelers as possible. Had there not been protests by Trump haters, carrying on their vows resist anything this president accomplishes, would those who needed to be detained for additional questions been able to get through the process with additional expedience?

One also has to wonder, in the zeal of Chucky Schumer and the Senate Democrats to delay the confirmation of many of the president’s appointees, some items that may have slipped through the cracks in the refugee executive order and other orders could have been prevented.

DONALD TRUMP: HOW WILL HE DO AS PRESIDENT?

As I’ve said many times, Donald Trump was not my first choice for the Republican nominee for President of the United States.

When Donald Trump became the nominee, I supported him fully. Through the months of campaigning against Hillary Clinton, I really started to like him and felt that he just might be the best candidate for the United States at this point in history.

Having said the above, we’re still moving into unknown territory. Donald Trump is one of the planet’s great businessmen, but can he adapt to the public sector. The public sector and the private sector are two completely different “animals.” Not only do they operate differently, behavior in one is not necessarily acceptable behavior in the other.

Democrats have attempted to make hay by pointing out the number of lawsuits and bankruptcies filed against and by Trump business entities. Because Democrats generally gravitate to the public sector for jobs, rather that the private sector, many of them know nothing about business. Even the smaller companies have lawsuits filed against them, sometimes, depending on the nature of the operation, on a regular basis. Bankruptcies are filed by companies and subsidiaries of companies for various reasons. It doesn’t necessarily mean the owners have run the company into the ground financially. So when I hear that the Trump companies have lawsuits filed against them and have at times declared bankruptcy, that’s just a day in the life of big business.

President Trump is used to getting his way. When he says jump, those under him say, “How high?” It doesn’t work that way in government. It’s no secret that the Democrats in Congress are going to fight him tooth and nail on everything. They are not interested in working together to get things done, and Republicans are wasting their time and energy by asking them to do so. Furthermore, many Republicans fought him while he was campaigning for the nomination and many refused to support him for the presidency.

President Trump has now been in office a week and has signed many executive orders, many of which are purposed to un-do the toxic executive orders of former president, Barack Obama. These orders are related to Obamacare, foreign policy, the environment, and immigration. In addition to implementing many executive orders, President Trump is taking steps to implement legislation as relates to Obamacare, the economy, foreign policy, etc. Most of his actions are delighting the right and pushing the left into further depression following their big losses in November 2016.

President Trump is keeping his promises and attacking a media that has historically been sympathetic to the left. But how good will he be as a president? Will his plans for taxes, trade, and the economy create jobs and give birth to prosperity among the middle class? Will the wall that he promises to build on the Mexican border effectively diminish the flow of drugs and criminals into the United States from Mexico? Will his programs such as the wall and the revitalization of the country’s infrastructure add to the deficit and the national debt in the same manner Obama’s stimulus packages and Obamacare did? Or will the jobs he hopes to create with lower taxes translate into increased revenue to the Fed allowing the additional spending to be covered without creating a deficit?

These answers are left to be seen. As I indicated earlier, President Trump is a businessman and he is going to operate like a businessman. He will call things as he sees them, political correctness be damned. I like the initial way he’s dealing with the media. I certainly believe in a free press and don’t want any sort of filters put on the information that is released to the public. But, if the media lies and makes up news in order to be first to release a story, and that news is wrong, it should be called out.

Donald Trump was right to call out the media on Sunday after taking office on Friday for the lie about him removing the bust of Dr. Martin Luther King from the Oval Office. He was also correct in calling out the media for the crowd size comparison between Barack Obama’s first inauguration and his inauguration. These two rather simplistic incidents should serve to put the media on notice that lies and half-truths will not be tolerated in this administration.

No one knows what the stock market will look like six months from now, nor will we know what the price of gas is going to be, what the unemployment rate is going to be, or the status of ISIS and other Islamic terrorist groups. What we do know is that the policies being put in place by President Donald Trump are diametrically opposite to the policies of former President Barack Obama. The left has consistently trashed conservatism and claims that any tax cuts, even if they affect everyone who pays taxes are tax cuts for the rich. Let’s see if they try that with the new president.

We have bold new leadership in the Oval office. Let’s see who’s right.

TO THE ADVOCATES OF THE TALLADEGA COLLEGE MARCHING BAND

By now, most of you know about the Talladega College Marching Band from Talladega College, the marching tornadoes, they’re called, a predominately black college located in Talladega, Alabama. On behalf of the band, Dr. Billy Hawkins, college president, accepted an invitation for the band to perform at the upcoming inauguration of president-elect, Donald Trump. Since accepting on behalf of the band and the college,

TalladegaCollegeTornados-640x480

Dr. Hawkins has been subjected to much harassment from the left. Of course, liberals are much harder on black conservatives than they are on white conservatives, often calling them “Uncle Tom,” “house…n**gas,” and the list goes on.

According to several sources, not one of the band members has opted out as a protest. $75,000 was needed to fund the trip and as of late last week, the group was still short.

On Thursday, Dr. Hawkins appeared on the O’Reilly Factor with Bill. By the end of the week, not only had enough been raised to send the students to the inauguration, there was money left for other needs of the band, such as instruments, uniforms, busses, etc. It was also indicated that money would be available for scholarships. As of this writing (1/17/2017), almost a half-million dollars have been raised.

Bill O’Reilly donated $25,000 from his foundation and Factor viewers made donations through the GoFundMe website. I’ve never examined Bill O’Reilly’s viewers, but it would appear that a majority would have political leanings to the right of center. Also, I am speculating that many of the donors are white. White and to the right of center? Huh!

Not that any of this should matter in this, the latter part of the second decade of the twenty-first century. The 1964 Civil Rights litigation took place over half a century ago and we’re currently celebrating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, who was shot almost forty-nine years ago.

But it does matter. The liberals of this nation, including the current president and his administration are obsessed with race and make just about everything racial. President Obama, whenever he can fit it into a speech, mentions race and the fact that he is black. We know he’s only half black. Even though Obama campaigned on making the United States, not a red nation, not a blue nation, but a purple nation, it didn’t take long for him to jump into the race fray with the Henry Louis Gates incident, then came Michael Brown, then the rest.

For the ones who donated to send the Talladega College Marching Band to the inauguration, don’t expect liberals to suddenly like you because you donated to a predominately black college. Don’t expect them to quit calling you a racist. The fact that you’re a conservative makes you one in their eyes. Saying…”but, but, but, I have black friends, I patronize black businesses, I voted for Rueben Studdard on American idol,” etc., will get you nowhere.

Liberals don’t care about facts. Liberals are intolerant. They’re also racist and bigots. In fact, if you donated to Talladega College, you will be further demonized by the left.

My liberal Facebook friends have been rather silent on the Talladega College donations. They must be hiding under the table, and I would too. They certainly have egg on their faces. I would think it would be very humiliating for all liberals, not just those in the state of Alabama, to know that white conservatives made it possible for a predominately black college marching band to attend a presidential inauguration, an inauguration your ilk is planning to boycott and to perhaps stir up some mischief.

I suspect that the “tolerant left” will find ways to besmirch these youngsters anyway they possibly can. There’s no viler form of racism than what the left is currently exhibiting toward the Talladega College Marching Band, and the school itself.

MERYL STREEP’S GOLDEN GLOBE SPEECH: AN ANALYSIS

Many of you know that I’m also the owner and manager of an Alabama Crimson Tide sports information site. Thus, the last few days have been filled with the College Football Playoff championship game between my alma mater and Clemson University. And I’m extremely disappointed in the outcome. No participation trophy was awarded.

It was only an hour or so ago that I could watch the video of actress, Meryl Streep in her now famous, Golden Globe Awards’ speech. The liberals thought it was just grand how she attacked the target of their hate and bigotry, President-elect, Donald Trump. There were possibly three sentences in her speech that I might consider the truth. The rest of her rubbish was lies.

merylstreep

Ms. Streep indicated in her rant that Hollywood, foreigners, and the press were the most vilified factions of society. Hey heifer, you left out Christians, southerners, white males and possibly females, gunowners, and Republicans. In mentioning Hollywood and the press, I guess Meryl Streep was talking about groups that conservatives often speak out against and rightfully so. She also mentioned foreigners. How have foreigners been vilified by conservatives? By Donald Trump? He married one.

As my readers know, I occasionally give into sarcasm. Because Donald Trump has come out against illegal immigration and has indicated anyone who has come to this country illegally is a law breaker and should be deported, liberals, who are obviously too stupid to make the distinction between legal and illegal immigration, state affirmatively that he is xenophobic (one who fears foreigners). Once again, that’s tolerance.

Then the iconic actress lists several actors/actresses in Hollywood who were foreign born, including Natalie Portman, born in Jerusalem, Ryan Gosling, born in Canada, and Amy Adams, born in Italy, and Ruth Negga, born in Ethiopia, indicating that they didn’t need birth certificates. Excuse me! How many times will I have to say this? Being a Hollywood actor or actress doesn’t require you to be a natural-born American citizen, but being president of the United States does. Why can’t liberals to understand that? If they can’t make the distinction, they’re stupid. In the previous paragraph, I called liberals stupid in the previous paragraph and I’m calling them stupid here. I guess that makes them double stupid.

Meryl Streep also indicated that since Hollywood is full of foreigners, if all were made to leave, we would have nothing to watch but football and martial arts, further indicating that martial arts was not art. Guess who Ms. Streep is taking a “swipe at?” Everyday Americans, of course.

The climax of Ms. Steep’s speech came when she, an advocate of the disabled, spewed a scathing rant regarding Donald Trump’s alleged mimicking of a disabled reporter. This allegation by the left has been widely disputed by Trump advocates claiming that the president-elect often sporadically moves his upper body, especially his hands in what appears to be a spastic manner when mimicking those with whom he is at odds. This is a reasonable argument that Donald Trump was not “making fun” of the subject reporter’s disability. Are liberals, who claim to be so tolerant and understanding of all sides, giving the benefit of the doubt to Mr. Trump? Of course not! Once again, that’s tolerance.

In concluding her speech, actress, Meryl Streep indicated that we need a principled press. I can’t dispute that. But was she indicating that the left-leaning mainstream media wasn’t principled according to her standards? Or was she talking about certain media outlets who do respect the conservative point of view? She went on to indicated that we need the support of the “well-heeled” foreign press to support the “Committee to Protect Journalists.” Not sure about this “Committee to Protect Journalists,” but I surmise that this committee will seek to protect left-wing speech and squelch any expressions or opinions that come from conservative America.

THE LIBERAL MINDSET

When George H. W. Bush ran for re-election against Arkansas Governor, Bill Clinton, in 1992, the fact that Bill Clinton was a draft dodger and Bush, the elder was a fighter pilot during World War II made no difference to the liberals. How could they applaud Bill Clinton and on the on the other side of the coin, condemn George W. Bush. What was the liberal mindset all about?

For his military obligation, George W. Bush served in both the Texas and Alabama Air National Guards. He never went to Viet Nam, even though the war was currently raging. Was he able to get lighter duty because he was a member of the revered Bush Family. During the time Bush, the younger, was serving in the Air National Guard, his father, George H. W. Bush was serving as the U.S. Representative from Texas’s seventh Congressional district, and later (1971 to 1973), as United States Ambassador to the United Nations.

Did the future President of the United States get preferential treatment? I don’t know, but I would say that it was a good possibility. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, the war was growing unpopular by the day and anyone who could possibly get out of serving did, using all contacts that they had at their disposal. It was what it was.

When George W. Bush decided to run for president and his less than ideal military service was made known, I said to myself, “Well the liberals won’t be able to upbraid Bush on his military service because their “boy,” Bill Clinton was an “out and out” draft dodger.

Little did I know that the left, with liberal journalist Dan Rather, would make documents from Bush’s military service available during his 2004 run for re-election. The documents were determined to be fakes, but the left continued to badger Bush for his military service. Once again, I just couldn’t grasp the liberal mindset.

After George W. Bush was elected president in 2000, I began to become aware of the disingenuousness of liberals. Seventeen years later, we’re seeing the same old disingenuousness, only more of it. They will accuse you of one thing, then do the same thing later and think nothing of it. When confronted, they change the subject in hopes of throwing you off track. When they’ve lost and they know it, they start hurling accusations at you such as racist, sexist, homophobe, etc.

When I’m discussing something whether it be face to face or online, I’m a stickler about staying on subject. Not saying that I’ve never veered off subject, I certainly have. But for the most part I make every effort to keep things on track.

As I indicated above, liberals often change the subject to throw you off. I sometimes wonder, though, if they’re consciously trying to throw you off track or if they are incapable of understanding what they read. Are they lacking in reading comprehension skills? Because they have the academics in their corner, they think they’re smarter than you and me. But are they? I say no.

AttackOnDisabledYouth

Earlier today, I shared the above meme. A you can see, it’s simply pointing out that the alleged attacks and torture of a white disabled youth by four blacks yelling “blank” Trump and “blank” white people, would have a different reaction by the “tolerant” left, including the Obama administration, and the mainstream media if this had been four whites attacking and torturing a black disabled youth while yelling “blank” Obama and “blank” white people. Cities across the country would be on fire, Obama would have had multiple press conferences, the victim and his family would be invited to the White House, and people would be screaming racism and hate crime.

While conservatives are calling this a hate crime and have indicated that the four perpetrators are racists, the outrage by the right pales in comparison with respect to the outrage that would have taken place by the left had the tables been turned. By now, there would be rioting in the streets, destroying property and injuring people. Black leaders including Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have immediately weighed in and called for protests. The mainstream media would be reporting on this continuously.

Following my sharing of this meme, a friend, who claims to be a moderate, but I think he’s really a liberal pointed out that the perpetrators were immediately arrested and charged, and justice would be rendered. He also pointed out that President Obama had condemned the acts and seemed to insinuate that the right is always expressing a desire for a completed investigation before conclusions are made. While there was clear-cut evidence of the crime committed after the perpetrators had video-taped it and put it on social media, that was not the point of this meme and the person who commented on it possessed the same liberal mindset that you see day after day, sometimes hour after hour, didn’t seem to recognize that.

Because Donald Trump will be our next president, the liberals are planning all sorts of strategies to derail his presidency. Prominent Democrats, including Michael Moore and Robert Reich, are instructing the sheeple on how to react toward Trump supporters and the legislation that President-elect Trump and the Republican Congress. See my article: Challenges to Conservatism.

I’ve never seen such actions in my life as those coming from the left in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election. We have “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” college students, also known as snowflakes, requesting safe spaces where they can go and grieve over the election, liberal celebrities promoting the boycotting of the inauguration, Americans being attacked in various ways because they supported Donald Trump, ad infinitum.

Can liberals not see through themselves? I shudder to think what would have been said and done to conservatives if they had acted in a similar manner. Supposed we had openly threated to thwart every piece of legislation Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress tried to pass? Suppose we had called Barack Obama something comparable to the names that Trump supporters have been called by the left? First and foremost, we would have been called racists and accused of hating Obama because of his skin color. Plus, we would have been accused of other hateful things, and been the subject of much hate and vitriol emanating from the left.

Well, doesn’t the left do all of that now? Of course, and I don’t expect them to stop, and neither should you. I haven’t been able to figure out the liberal mindset and neither has anyone else. Will anyone?
