THE UNRAVELING OF RACE RELATIONS UNDER PRESIDENT OBAMA

There is no doubt that the United States and its citizens have witnessed the unraveling of race relations at the hand of President Barak Obama. But when did it all begin?

First Lady, Michelle Obama, tells blacks to just vote Democrat and have some fried chicken.

First Lady was never proud of her country until hubby, Barak was nominated for President on the Democrat ticket.

In my humble opinion, it began during the 2008 campaign for president when candidate Obama’s wife, Michelle, indicated that for the first time in her life, she was proud of her country. Mrs. Obama uttered these words after hubby and nailed down the Democrat nomination for president of the United States.

This didn’t set well with me and many others. This also indicated to me that she must have a history of anti-Americanism. This combined with her husband’s “hope and change” message further disturbed me. What kind of change was Barak Obama speaking of?

Fast forward to July 16, 2009. Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was arrested outside him home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The professor had just returned from a trip to China where he was doing research. Finding the door to his home jammed, he was trying to get it open when he was arrested by police Sargent James Crowley. Sargent Crowley was responding to a 911 call in which the caller reported there were men breaking and entering Gates’ residence. Gates was never charged.

Crowley_and_Gates

On July 22, the current president said the following about the incident. “I don’t know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that…the Cambridge police acted stupidly…there is a long history in this country of African Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately.”

This incident was unfortunate and I would have been made if I had been in Professor Gates’ shoes. Furthermore, this was local and nothing in which the president of the United States should become involved. That was my first reaction when I heard about the situation. Because this was a white police officer and a black man, the question of race was brought into the mix.

The above was six months into Barak Obama’s presidency. Is this a taste of things to come? Unfortunately, yes.

Fast forward again to Treyvon Martin, who was killed in a low level scuffle, two thugs going at each other. Because one was a light-skinned Hispanic, the liberals considered him to be white and Treyvon was black.

Once again, the president of the United States interjected himself into what should have been a local matter and indicated that if he had a son, the son would look just like Treyvon. Then Representative Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) uttered the words, “Treyvon was hunted down like a rabid dog and shot in the street,” before all the facts were in.

Fast forward once more to Michael Brown, a black man who was shot by a white policeman in Ferguson, Missouri after robbing a convenience store. Out of this incident arose the Black Lives Matter movement and the “hands up don’t shoot” mantra. The “hands up don’t shoot” chant arose when it was alleged that the white police officer, Darren Wilson, shot Mr. Brown in the back while his hands were in the air. This was proven false, making “hands up don’t shoot” predicated on a lie. But this didn’t stop the Black Lives Matter movement from continuing the chant, “hands up don’t shoot,” or chanting the following in the streets: “Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon,” and “What do we want, dead cops. When do we want them, now.”

To make matters even more ridiculous, the current president sends a representative to Michael Brown’s funeral. He sends a representative to the funeral of a thug, a criminal? At the time, it was almost too much for me to fathom, especially when this president failed to even acknowledge Kate Steinle, a California woman who was murdered by an illegal alien.

The following frustrates me about the above incidents.

  • The current president injecting himself in low level local matters. Isn’t he supposed to be protecting the people of the United States of America (we know how that’s worked out)?
  • That we’re wasting so much time and energy on low level local matters.
  • That folks are refusing to wait until the investigations are complete and the facts are in to begin their protests, which invariably turn into riots and looting.
  • Once the investigations are completed and the facts are in, liberals don’t care about the facts and the investigation results and continue their disruptive ways.

Now, most of us have come to expect rioting and looting by the Black Lives Matter crowd whenever a black person is killed at the hands of a white person. The investigation and ensuing facts are irrelevant. The statistics illustrating that these are isolated incidents and that there is no pattern of whites killing blacks or that white policemen are deliberately hunting blacks to kill them are ignored.

On the Sean Hannity show last night, Geraldo Rivera indicated that the President Obama needs to step forward and unite the American people. Well, he’s spend 7-1/2 years dividing the American people, what makes you think he’s going to have a change of heart and begin uniting this country during the last months of his presidency?

I hear everyone around me, politicians, talking heads, posters on Facebook and Twitter say that we need to stop the hate, we need to sit down and talk, we need to put ourselves in the shoes of someone black. May we choose? I think I’ll put my feet in the shoes of former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice. She’s beautiful, talented, is from my state, and thinks like me. Actually, I don’t think that’s what the liberals meant.

I’m not attempting to diminish the struggles of blacks in the United States who persevered through slavery and Jim Crow laws; not in the least. Every human, every group, every race, etc. has had difficulties, has struggled, and has suffered. While God has blessed me beyond what I deserve, I’ve had my struggles and difficulties. And you know what, they’ve made me strong.

If you were twenty-two years old when Civil Rights Legislation was passed in the sixties, you’re about seventy-five or seventy-six now. If you’re under fifty, segregation was being eliminated before you were born. When Civil Rights legislation was signed into law, things didn’t automatically become perfect. In fact, things will never be perfect. Change of the nature directed by the 1964 Civil Rights Legislation, takes time to fully happen. Since the law’s inception, things have progressed to the point where a black president was elected after forty-four years. Whether you like and/or agree with Barak Obama, the United States seemed to have put racial divisions behind us in one generation. Blacks make up about 13% per the U.S. population and about 91% of those blacks are Democrats. Barak Obama had to have lots of white votes to get elected.

Unfortunately, the black president who promised hope and change has certainly given us change and not good change. He has spear-headed the unraveling of race relations in this country to a point where I sometimes think relations were better when we were segregated.

How are we going to get things back to normal, the way things were in early 2008? Encouraging love and condemning hate are not going to do it. This is something liberals and some conservatives are doing in order to feel good about themselves.  Let’s talk, let’s discuss. Let’s have a beer summit and invite everyone. Did you see Megyn Kelly last night? I’m not sure about talking either.

So, what I would like to propose is to rid ourselves of any political correctness, if we can. We may have already been brain-washed to the point where this is impossible. Then we need to quit interjecting race into everything. Just don’t mention it, act like it doesn’t exist. If there is an altercation between someone white and someone black, don’t throw in the race card unless you can prove beyond a doubt that race was involved. I’ve already let liberals know that they must find an instance where I’ve disparaged this president because of the color of his skin before they start hurling the racist accusation against me. I think it’s time that we all do this.

I believe that once we do the above, we can perhaps undo all the damage that Barak Obama has done with respect to race relations in the country. Then perhaps, we can clearly see the scenarios where real racism is involved and then take steps to correct those scenarios.

WHY I’M CYNICAL ABOUT RACE

Growing up in a small north Alabama town where no blacks lived, I had little interaction with them until I started college at the University of Alabama. I was well aware that at this point in my life, I would certainly have a lot more interaction with blacks. I would be in class with them, I would be living close to them, if not having them as roommates, I would be socializing with them, and so on and so forth. While the term “new normal” was not used back then, this would be the “new normal” for me.

During my sophomore year, I lived next door to a black girl and we became the best of friends. I was the one who made the initial ice-breaking contact with her, and soon her black friends and my white friends were all friends. Even though we both moved out of the dormitory and into apartments my junior year and her sophomore year, we remained friends, had some great times together, and continued to remain friends until we were in our mid-twenties and life caused us to drift apart. Like all friends, we did have our “tiffs,” but that’s normal for everyone.

I’ve always lived according to the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King to judge people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Now that the Civil Rights legislation of the mid-sixties had lifted the barriers, we can become a color-blind society.  The only reason I felt like skin color should be used would be for identification purposes and maybe marketing purposes. For example, if I owned a tanning salon, my core target market would not include blacks for obvious reasons, it’s not a service most really need.

I’ve always been against affirmative action programs because I feel they demean minorities. It’s telling minorities that you’re inferior and need help to achieve. That’s BS! As a Republican, I do feel that the Republican Party is the best party for anyone, including minorities and that the Democrat part is the real racist party. It’s the Democrats who think that minorities, including blacks, are inferior and need help from whites. Again, that’s BS!

There is a question that I have often put to blacks and whites: with Civil Rights Legislation, there was forced desegregation in most areas of our society. However, one area where there was not forced desegregation was our churches and houses of worship. And to this day, we have white churches and black churches with very little overlap. Why is this? You would think that churches would be the first places to desegregate, but no. But I think that may be beginning to change slightly, which I’m happy about.

I did ask a black friend to visit my church several times. One time she asked me what we did at my church. I said that we did what most people in church do. We sing hymns, pray, and the minister delivers the message which is directly from the Bible. Then the friend said she didn’t want to be the only African-American there. While there are no blacks who regularly attend my church, we do have the occasional visitors who are black. At my church, everyone is welcome. The black friend did hurt my feelings a bit. I was sincere about her visiting my church, and she seemed to flippantly dismiss my invitation.

One black friend that I often go out to eat with, will say that the waiter/waitress is prejudice if the service is slow and the waiter or waitress is white. Then if the service is a little fast, she says, “I wonder if they’re trying to rush us out.”  I’m so sick of hearing that.

I’ve been accused of being prejudiced because I don’t like turnip greens. And one time I asked a black friend what time she got out of church on Sunday so we could plan something for that afternoon. This friend responded in a somewhat snarky manner, “just when we get out.” Then I suggested that she get up and leave if the service goes a little long. I shouldn’t have said that, and ended the conversation telling her that if she couldn’t reasonably guarantee that she would be able to meet up and attend the matinee, let’s just forget about it. “Oh, no, no, no, we can do this, “she said. We did meet up at a designated time and went to the matinee. I’m pretty sure this person was just trying to give me a hard time.

Another time, I had arranged for a black friend of mine to pick up a white friend of mine and meet me somewhere. It was a little more detailed than this, but the details aren’t important. The black friend replied, “I don’t know, he might be prejudiced.” I lost it and told the black friend to get out of the fifties and sixties and into the second decade of the twenty-first century. She replied, “I guess I just made a bad joke.” I was mad and she knew it.

In some of the smaller cities and townships in the Birmingham area, your city address is “Birmingham, Alabama.” I think this is limited to those zip codes that begin with “352.” For example, the city of Homewood is a separate and distinct city with a city government. The zip code is 35209. If you’re in that zip code, you are Birmingham, Alabama, not Homewood, Alabama. In the suburb of Pelham, Alabama, the zip code is 35124 and your city address is Pelham, Alabama, not Birmingham, Alabama. Of course, people use do use Homewood, Alabama, Vestavia Hills, Alabama, Hoover, Alabama, etc. as their city/state. While it’s technically wrong, mail does still get to them. I heard someone once say to use Homewood, Vestavia Hills, Hoover, was racist. Now how can you possibly, with a straight face, connect those dots?

These things are minor, but they seem to have happened happen to me a lot. Liberals now add to the definition of racism to fit whatever suits their needs at the moment.

You’re a racist if you rooted for the Denver Broncos with white quarterback Peyton Manning over the Carolina Panthers with black quarterback Cam Newton. You’re a racist if you don’t like Gangsta Rap. You’re racist if you like country music; the only reason you like Darius Rucker is because liking him makes you feel good about your racist self.  If you say “All Lives Matter” you’re a racist.

And then to the big one, if you don’t support Barak Obama and his policies, you’re a racist. I’ve addressed this many times and won’t re-hash it here.

I have folks telling me and everyone else that the “Black Lives Matter” movement is a righteous and peaceful movement, that the person who gunned down those police officers in Dallas was not a part of “Black Lives Matter.”

The “Black Lives Matter” movement arose out of the Ferguson, Missouri shooting of Michael Brown. Before the investigation and the facts were complete, liberals, including black liberals, were shouting “hands up don’t shoot” then “black lives matter.” The “hands up don’t shoot” didn’t happen. It was a lie. Thus, “Black Lives Matter” was predicated upon a lie.

Then you have the “Black Lives Matter” movement holding demonstrations and chanting things like “pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon, and “what do we want, dead cops, when do we want it, now.” I watched the video of the “Black Lives Matter” rally held in downtown Birmingham last night. While there was no rioting, looting, or destroying of property (we don’t do that down here), the tone was anti-white and anti-police. Also, demonstrators were chanting “hands up, don’t shoot.”

I don’t agree with those who say it’s a good, peaceful movement. Instead, I consider it a hate group. Can someone tell me why I should think differently?

I have often said that I didn’t understand why liberals, including black liberals, protest to the point of looting and rioting when someone black dies at the hands of someone white, which are isolated incidents; but do not appear to care about scenarios such as Chicago where multiple blacks are killed almost every night and certainly on weekend nights by other blacks. If the scenario in Chicago could be minimized, it would go a long way to saving black lives, especially young black lives. But I’m called a racist and other things for uttering such. Why am I such a horrible person for pointing out a scenario where more blacks are killed in gang-related incidents than isolated incidents? It sure looks to me like only some black lives matter.

Like everyone else, I have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But I have tried, as a young college student and an adult, to reach out to blacks. Yes I have become cynical about race, particularly over the last 7-1/2 years and feel like I have been kicked in the teeth and in the stomach.  Why should I not feel this way? Please tell me.

Note: I do have many black friends who have not treated me in the ways that I described above. I don’t intend to stop trying to make black friends. While there are some things I will not put up with, I do not intend to give up on my efforts to make our society a color-blind one.

ARE CONSERVATIVES BECOMING THE JEWS OF THE THIRD REICH

According to AnneFrank.org, Hitler and the Nazis said the Jews were responsible for huge events like losing World War One, and the economic crisis. Of course, this was untrue.  By giving the Jews the blame, Hitler created an enemy. He said that all of Germany’s problems had been caused by the Jews, and many people believed him.

AnneFrank.org goes on to indicate that the solution to all of these problems was to banish the Jews from society. With this political message, and the promise to make Germany a large and economically powerful country, Hitler’s party won the 1932 election. In 1933, he and his party came to power.

Jews in Nazi Germany

According to historylearningsite.co.uk, Hitler blamed the Jews for all the misfortunes that had befallen Germany. The loss of the First World War was the result of a Jewish conspiracy. The Treaty of Versailles was also a Jewish conspiracy designed to bring Germany to her knee. The hyperinflation of 1923 was the result of an international Jewish attempt to destroy Germany.

During the time when Germany was seemingly recovering under Stresseman, what Hitler said about the Jews remained nonsense, listened to only by a few. But during the impact of the Great Depression, when people became unemployed and all looked helpless, Hitler’s search for a scapegoat proved a lot more truthful.

After January 1933, the Jews became the “untermenschen,” the sub-humans. Nazi thugs stopped Germans from sopping in Jewish sops. By 1934, all Jewish shops were marked with the yellow Star of David or had the word, “Juden,” written on the window. SA men stood outside the shops to deter anyone from entering. This was not necessarily a violent approach to the Jews (which would come later), but it was an attempt to economically bankrupt them and destroy what they had spent years building up.

On buses, trains, and park benches, Jews had to sit on seats marked for them. Children at schools were taught specifically anti-Semitic ideas. Jewish school children were openly ridiculed by beachers and the bullying of Jews in the playground by other pupils went unpunished. If the Jewish children responded by not wanting to go to school, then that served a purpose in itself and it also gave the Nazi propagandists a reason to peddle the lie that Jewish children were inherently lazy and could not be bothered to go to school.

In November 1938, a Nazi diplomat was shot dead by a Jew in Paris. Hitler ordered a seven day campaign of terror against the Jews in Germany to be organized by Himmler and the SS. On November 10, a campaign started where 10,000 shops owned by Jews were destroyed and their contents stolen. Homes and synagogues were set on fire and left to burn. The fire brigades showed their loyalty to Hitler by assuming that the buildings would burn down anyway, so why try to prevent it. A huge amount of damage was done to Jewish property, but the Jewish community was ordered to pay a one billion mark fine to pay for the eventual clean-up. Jews were forced to scrub the streets clean.

So, Hitler hated the Jews and blamed the Jews for all of his and Germany’s problems. Fast forward to the present. What group seems to be getting the blame for everything today? Conservatives, particularly those who are white and Christian. Of course the blame the Jews received was unjustified and pure nonsense. Blaming the White Christian Right is also unjustified and pure nonsense. But it’s happening.

How many times have you heard President Obama blame the Republicans in Congress for not acting on issues in which he feels they should act? Remember, Mr. President, we do have a system of checks and balances in place and politics is politics.

Just weeks ago, when a shooting by an Islamic terrorist took place at a gay night club in Orlando, the Christian Right was blamed by many of those on the left. During a pride parade in New York City, a rainbow banner was displayed saying, “Republican hate kills.”

RHK

A sacred right that all American citizens have is the right to criticize their elected officials and hold their government accountable. As my grandmother once said, “If you don’t like what’s going on, you can say you don’t like it.” Sadly, though, any criticism of President Obama is considered racist by the “tolerant left,” even though nothing is ever said about his skin color or his ethnicity. In addition to being called a racist, those who disagree with this president politically are generally accused of being haters. You can remind members of the “tolerant left” that all presidents from George Washington forward had their detractors and opponents, but that always falls on deaf ears.

I mentioned an incident above where, in 1938, a Nazi diplomat was shot by a Jew in Paris. As a result, Hitler ordered a reign of terror on the Jews. Fast forward to the present. Two recent incidents of white police shooting black men in Louisiana and Minnesota have caused rioting and looting. And there have been a handful of similar isolated incidents in the past couple of years that have also triggered rioting and looting. I know the looting and rioting taking place as a result of these shootings pales in comparison to Hitler’s reign of terror on the Jews, but a pattern seems to be coming together.

The liberals have and continue to blame President George W. Bush for things that were not his fault such as the Iraq War and the financial collapse of 2008. I’ve written extensively on these things in the past, indicating what happened and how these things can’t be laid solely at the feet of George W. Bush. Do you think any liberal would bother to read any of what I’ve written or what anyone else who doesn’t blame President Bush solely for these things has written? Of course not!

Could we see something akin to the holocaust, except the U.S. government is terrorizing Christians, white people, conservatives? I certainly hope not. But white Christian conservatives are getting blamed more and more each day. Just remember, it started off with Hitler blaming the Jews for things they had nothing to do with.

BUSH EMAIL SCANDAL VS. HILLARY EMAIL SCANDAL

Some liberals are whining with respect to the FBI’s findings on the Hillary Clinton email scandal, citing the Bush email scandal of 2007. They’re lamenting that the situations are similar and the Bush email scandal didn’t get near the press coverage as Hillary’s email scandal.

Just because they were both email scandals, doesn’t make them similar. In fact, there are many differences. And while the Bush email scandal was certainly embarrassing, it pales in comparison to Hillary’s email scandal.

obama-clintons

The Bush Email Scandal:

According to politifact.com, in March 2007, eyes were on then-Attorney General Alberto Gonzales after the administration unexpectedly fired eight U.S. attorneys. Congress, recently taken over by Democrats, investigated the firings, alleging that the administration had cropped the prosecutors for political reasons.

Over the course of the investigation, it came out that some White House officials had conducted White House business over private email accounts set up on a server through the Republican National Committee. The officials had used the private domain gwb43.com, a server run by the RNC. The White House later admitted that some internal White House emails conducted on the RNC server might have been lost. Democrats in Congress accused the administration of purposefully circumventing recordkeeping processes, while the White House said staffers were supposed to use the RNC emails solely for political affairs, not official business.

Two years later, it was revealed that potentially 22 million emails were deleted, which was considered by some to be a violation of the Presidential Records Act.  Supposedly, the deleted emails were recovered from archives.

The Two Controversies Compared:

The Bush administration had two email accounts, one for official government business and another for RNC business. The RNC email server was not a home-grown system that President Bush installed in his home as was Hillary’s.

As Secretary of State and as a Senator, she signed a confidential agreement that all government emails would be sent and received through an official government account.  When she was Secretary of State, she used only the homegrown server set up in her home, a server which she personally had installed, for all her business as Secretary of State, and never used State Department email. By doing this, she put U.S. secrets at risk and her private email server was hacked by at least one person from a foreign government.

Furthermore, when the Bush email scandal came to light, Hillary Clinton said, “Our constitution is being shredded. We know about the secret White House email accounts. It is a stunning record of secrecy and corruption. Yet, she tells the whole world that she did nothing wrong.

All accounts of the Bush email scandal indicated that the president himself, was not directly involved. Instead, higher up White House officials, including Karl Rover were the ones implicated. Also, this controversy arose in 2007, the last phase of the Bush administration. When Hillary’s email scandal made the news, she was a candidate for President.

Will any liberals read the above? Perhaps. Will they understand it? Of course not!

EXAMPLES OF LIBERALS BEING WRONG

The following are just a couple of examples of liberals being wrong.

Several months ago, I was reviewing my news feed on Facebook when a liberal FB friend authored a post regarding a Congressional vote on mandating that private companies give their employees a minimum of four weeks vacation. The Republican controlled Congress didn’t pass the bill and these liberals were having a field day doing what they do best, hooting and hollering to the top of their lungs about how horrible and uncaring the Congressional Republicans were. Congressmen were getting two months or more vacation and they didn’t want us, the little people to even get four weeks vacation.

WRONG! Congress was not voting on whether or not to give people working for private companies four weeks vacation. Congress was voting on whether or not to mandate that companies give employees at least four weeks vacation. These liberals were trying to make you think that the Republicans in Congress are against us little people getting four weeks of vacation.

Putting it simply, Republicans like those in Congress and like myself, feel that the amount of vacation that a company gives its employees should be left up to the company. Government shouldn’t be involved in this at all.

Needless to say, when I broke into the thread and explained this to these liberals, the discussion halted.

In 2015, an article was written on freelancechristianity.com entitled Republican Jesus…guarding ‘merica from the liberals. The main point of the article is that Republicans, a lot of whom claim to be Evangelical Christians, do not follow the teachings of Jesus.

Toward the end of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus summarizes what following his examples requires: “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me…Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

According to the portrayal of Republican Jesus, Jesus said, “If they are hungry, cut benefits to programs that feed them. If they are sick, deny them healthcare. If they are strangers, deport them.”

Even though this article was at least a year old, I replied as follows: “Do you even know the difference between a Republican and a Democrat, a liberal and a conservative? I am a Republican and in the past, I have done extensive community service work, helping those less fortunate. Just because one is against a government program that purports to help the disadvantaged, doesn’t mean that person is against the poor, against the disabled, etc. I believe that I can best help those less fortunate through my hand to theirs, as opposed to tax dollars taken from me and going up the ladder and down the ladder with everyone taking their cut and only about three to five cents of every tax dollar actually getting to the cause. Unfortunately, this is what liberals will lead anyone that will follow them to believe and it’s wrong. In my political blog, I make an effort to clarify things, but it’s an uphill climb when I have to refute articles such as this one.”

What’s so disconcerting is the inability to reason with liberals and get them to quit making charges such as the above. If they want to argue the validity of government programs to help the poor versus helping the poor through service clubs, faith based initiatives and individuals opening up their wallets, then fine. Perhaps we can have a civilized discussion.

When you try to reason with liberals, your spoken words fall on deaf ears and your written words fall on blind eyes.  Many times they will reply to you with something way off base or try to change the subject hoping to somehow throw you off. When all else fails, they resort to hurling false accusations at you.

Liberals claims to be tolerant and open to diverse ideas. Yeah right! That’s the reason I often use the phrase, “tolerant left.” Maybe I should take steps to copyright it.
