COMMENTS ON SOCIAL SECURITY

Dating back to when I was in my twenties and beginning my career, I remember folks saying that Social Security would not be around when my generation became of age. I also remember the rants of the elderly…”I’m afraid Reagan is going to take away my Social Security,” I’m afraid Bush (referring to George H. W. Bush) is going to take away my social security,” and I’m afraid Bush (referring to George W. Bush) is going to take away my social security.” It seemed like the very mention of Social Security or any kind of change to the program brought reactions from the elderly. After having to listen to these rants all of my life, I made a pledge that when I got older I would never act like this.

Now that the baby boomers are reaching Social Security age, we’re hearing more and more rants about Social Security. A young libertarian on a panel of 5 on a Fox News Saturday morning show indicates that she thinks Social Security should be eliminated because it’s not fair to take money from someone young and poor and give it to old people who don’t need it. Then all of a sudden Fox News is an advocate of eliminating Social Security, according to liberals. I watched the video of these segment several times and from my observations, it was a dis-jointed discussion where opinions were floated, but no one had a chance to explain and conclude their opinions.

For all working Americans who have contributed to Social Security, there is not an envelope in a large vault with your name on it containing the money that you will receive when you become Social Security eligible. If this is news to you, I have some swamp land that you might be interested in purchasing located in Louisiana. As I indicated earlier, the baby boomers are reaching Social Security eligibility age and there’s a lot of them. Following the baby boom years, there was a decline in births which means less and less people are working and paying into Social Security. Furthermore, the economy is very sluggish with many people who would normally be paying into Social Security out of work or working in low paying jobs. This doesn’t make for an optimal situation and everyone who will reach Social Security eligibility age within the next five to fifteen years should be concerned about what benefits, if any, they will be receiving. I’m concerned. That’s why I’m working 14 hours a day seven days a week, trying to create some wealth so I won’t have to depend on Social Security.

A Democrat strategist on the same panel I mentioned above indicated that she would be an advocate for a system where those becoming Social Security eligible would have the option to opt-out of Social Security if they had income and assets to live out their senior years. This was a Democrat, mind you. If a prominent Republican/conservative had said something like this on the Sean Hannity Show and Sean agreed, I can’t imagine what the liberals would have done. They went ballistic when Michelle Fields, one of a five member panel, threw out an unpopular idea and claimed that Fox News was advocating the elimination of Social Security. I don’t know what liberals would have done and frankly I don’t want to know.

Several months ago, there was a photograph being circulated on Facebook by Occupy Democrats. It suggested that a group of millionaire and billionaire businessmen were advocating eliminating Social Security. Of course, a number of my liberal friends went nuclear. Did they do any research on this? Of course not! The subsequent research that I did indicated that this group of well-heeled business men had suggested that, in order to save Social Security, the retirement age would have to be raised at some point…a far cry from advocating the elimination of Social Security. When I pointed this out, one of them actually thanked me for doing the research.

As my generation reaches Social Security eligibility age, it looks as we’re going to be no different that our predecessors who whined that Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II were going to take their Social Security away. Unlike previous generations, my generation has Internet and social media and with Internet and social media, reams of information have been put out there, some accurate, some not.

I’m sure that I’m preaching to the choir when I say this. If you see something out there that is not accurate, point it out, no matter what the point of view. So many times we roll over. But before you take issue with something or share something that you like, take a few minutes to do some research on it. It may save you some embarrassment later.

If you’re a baby boomer who is approaching Social Security eligibility, don’t believe everything you see on social media. Again, research it before you pass it along and get upset.

I’m concerned that Social Security might not be there for me and I’m also concerned that the government, may, at some point, come in and tell those of “means” that they are not eligible to draw Social Security because they have enough assets to last them the rest of their life. The money they contributed will therefore go to someone else who actually needs it. So, what do we do? I suggest work hard and make every effort to create some wealth in order to diminish your chances of having to depend partially or totally on the government for your livelihood, no matter what your age. I know this sounds like an extreme concept and liberals are going to come at me with…”You mean you want people to work!” Call me anything you want, I’ve probably been called it before.

MORE LIBERAL HATE – August 17, 2015

I’ve written many articles on the intense hatred that liberals have against anyone who doesn’t walk in lock-step with their beliefs. Of course, liberals love to accuse non-liberals of hate and do it on a regular basis. If you are against the current president’s policies, you hate the current president because he’s black. If you’re against giving illegal aliens benefits and believe they should be deported to their country of origin, you hate immigrants. By the way, they fail to distinguish between those who come here legally and follow the rules and those who come here illegally, breaking the law. If you question entitlement programs that were implemented to allegedly help the poor, but don’t seem to be working, you hate the poor. When an individual or group of individuals make accusations and point fingers, it’s generally a good bet that they are really the guilty ones, instead of the ones at which they’re pointing fingers.

The liberals hated George W. Bush and, along with the current president, blamed him for everything during the first 6-1/2 months of the Obama presidency. I guess even the liberals knew that was getting old. Now, it seems, they have another entity to blame for everything and that entity of Fox News. And that’s laughable because Fox News is a media outlet, it doesn’t make policy. It is the number one cable news network in the nation, having the most viewers. And we all know that liberals call Fox News watchers really bad names. I’ve been called all of those names before. Morons, delusional, and idiots are three of the names liberals call Fox News watchers. Liberals have also indicated that Fox News has brain-washed its viewers. So, liberals, let me pose a question to you. If Fox News watchers are idiots and can be brainwashed into conservative thought, why did the current President get elected twice? If we’re all brainwashed idiots via Fox News, wouldn’t we have voted for the Republican candidate?

One of the milder names that liberals call Fox News is “Faux News.” I’m not going to say much about that because I’ve been knows to call CNN the “Clinton News Network” or the “Communist News Network.” I’ve also called MSNBC, “PMSNBC.” We all have names for things we don’t like. With the exception of the above, however, I have never put those terms in print. As a political blogger I should maintain my professionalism and make every effort to do so.

I can honestly say that I’ve never called CNN, MSNBC, or network news viewers names. I have called for the elimination of NPR because it is a liberal leaning media outlet and I don’t particularly like my tax dollars being used for speech I don’t agree with. NPR viewers say that the programming is excellent. Well, if NPR is so great, then it should be able to go private and sell advertising like any other private media outlet. When I said this to a friend of a liberal friend, he indicated that only the extremely intelligent and elite were capable or appreciating NPR. In other words, I’m an unenlightened oaf and of course we all know that. To that I say, “If you love NPR so much, then maybe you and those enlightened few who are capable of appreciating it should create a subscription based channel. “ The friend of the friend informed me that he was just a school teacher and didn’t make a lot of money. So, he expects me and everyone else to pay for something that he loves because he and his elitist friends can’t afford it. It’s sad, but that’s how liberals think. I don’t understand it, but then again I’m an unenlightened oaf.

Of all these liberals who hate Fox News, I often wonder how many of them have actually sat down and watched Fox News. I was having a back and forth on Facebook with a liberal friend and when I informed him that the senior news anchor for Fox was a liberal, he said he didn’t know that Fox had “hard news.” H-E-L-L-O! This person disparages Fox News and it appears he has never watched it.

During George W. Bush’s presidency, I never heard him make disparaging remarks about those American who didn’t support his policies. He recognized and respected the rights of all Americans to disagree. During the Iraq war, he often met with those who were against the war, especially those who had loved-ones in Iraq. Hillary Clinton calls conservatives “wingnuts,” hence the name of this blog. President Bill Clinton once said that conservatives had “that extra chromosome,” denigrating those with Down syndrome.

Of course, the current president frequently denigrates and belittles those who don’t agree with his policies. He has even asked his supporters to keep track of those who disagree with him. And we all know what he thinks about Fox News and Fox News watchers. I never heard President George W. Bush disparage certain media outlets and their viewers. Having said that, President Bush didn’t care for the media and presidents generally don’t.

Bill O’Reilly, of the O’Reilly Factor on Fox News, has commented many times about the hatred that the left has for those who don’t agree with them. Bill has also indicated that there is hatred on the right and there certainly is. Bill, however, indicates that there is much more on the left. That has been my observation also. Yes, there is hatred toward liberals by conservatives, but it is much more prevalent on the left. I’m sure that liberals will say I’m lying and call me names. Again, I think I’ve been called everything there is to be called by liberals. Maybe I should have a contest to see if a liberal can come up with a name to call me that I haven’t yet been called.

THIS LIBERAL GROUP MAKES ME CRAZY

Ever heard of the liberal group, Occupy Democrats? They have Facebook page and a website. Of course, they are supporters of the current President of the United States and they are almost always wrong as is our current president. The Facebook site for Occupy Democrats forwarded a stupid little photograph indicating that the current President is so great because of the following:

  • He got Bin Laden
  • The price of gas is now $2.75 per gallon
  • The stock market has tripled in value
  • He ended two wars
  • He cut unemployment in half
  • One-half of the folks who didn’t have health insurance now have it

What a crock? Are these people fools and are the people that believe this fools?

Of course we know that when a Democrat is in the oval office and the price of gas goes down, it is that Democrat president and his wonderful policies that have lowered the price of gas. But if the price goes up when we have a Democrat president, the president really has no control over the price of gas. When a Republican is in the oval office and the price of gas goes down, the president really has no control over the price of gas. But if a Republican is in the oval office and the price of gas goes up, it’s the fault of the Republican president.

The truth of the matter is: private sector technology developed hydraulic fracturing or “fracking.” Fracking took place on private lands and was successful. As such, the United States which is sitting on vast resources of oil and natural gas and fracking and horizontal drilling, we have been able to extract oil and natural gas at a rate that we have never seen before. Thus, the price of gas has gone down and all are seeing reductions in energy costs.

Hey libs, I hate to tell you, but your guy, the one you worship, had nothing to do with this. In case your memory is not serving you correctly, you were against fracking. You want to eliminate the use of fossil fuels and replace these reliable and cost efficient energy sources with unreliable and pricey green energy. Just don’t ever tell me that you are a champion of the middle and lower income classes, otherwise you will get an ear-full from me. Having said all of the above, I think it’s safe to say that this president had nothing to do with the lowering of the price of gas.

He got Bin Laden? I thought it was the Navy Seals who actually captured and killed Osama Bin Laden. The current president did nothing except approve what he had to and watch the events unfold with the Secretary of State. Also, from what I understand, plans were in the works for capturing Bin Laden before the current president took office. It did happen under his watch, though.
The misleading photograph also suggests that the current president cut employment in half. According to gallup.com, anyone who is unemployed and has given up on finding a job, is not counted by the Department of Labor as unemployed. As of earlier this year, as many as 30 million Americans are either out of work or severely unemployed. Also, if you are out of work and perform a minimum of one hour of work in a week and are paid at last $20, you’re not officially counted as unemployed. Those working part time, but desire full time work, are not counted in the 5.6% unemployment. In other words, the 5.6% that sounds great and has the current administration, the mainstream media, and liberals cheering is actually a lie.

The stock market has certainly gone up in the last 6-1/2 years. However, it took major tumbles as a result of the financial crisis of 2008. In an article written by Sean Hyman on moneynews.com in March, 2013, Mr. Nyman indicates that economics is not always a reflection of what the market is doing and here are three main reasons why.

  •  We’re buying companies, not economies. So, if companies manage their debt, cash, resources, etc. better than the overall economy, then stocks can go up while the economy does not.
  • Corporate earnings are stronger now than in times past, even though the U.S. economy is still weak.
  • Most companies in the S&P and Dow Jones, etc. have very significant international operations that are affected by those economies as well as our own economy.

While a sluggish economy can certainly pull down the stock market, and has done many times in the past, the stock market and the overall economy are not always in lockstep.

The current president ended two wars? Yes, he did. But he didn’t follow the advice of top military personnel and the Pentagon. And what do we have to show for it? ISIS! Need I say more? Of course, the current President has indicated to us that they are just a JV team eighteen months ago. Has he changed his mind? I think he has, but he doesn’t seem to have the desire to do anything about this most heinous terrorist organization. The Middle East is in the biggest mess it has ever been in, in my lifetime. The Iran Nuclear Deal is a disaster and will certainly propel Iran to get a nuclear weapon. While you may have ended the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, those actions and other actions by you and your administration have made the region a hotbed for terrorist activity.

Last, but not least, the Occupy Democrats photo indicated that one-half of the uninsured are now insured. I’m assuming this means they have health insurance. I know of one person who went through the market place to procure health insurance, and is satisfied. Everybody else, including your author, is paying substantially higher premiums and getting less. This president lied and all his liberal henchmen lied. I thought the average premium was supposed to be cut by approximately $2,500. Well, mine increased by approximately that amount. My portfolio may be a little fatter as a result of the rising stock market, but it’s going to take that increase to make up for the increase in health insurance premiums that I’m having to pay.

So, there you have it. I’ve disputed everything that was outlined on that Occupy Democrats photo. While Occupy Democrats really drives me crazy, more crazy than some of the other liberal groups, I guess I should be thankful for them. They’re almost always wrong and I can rip apart most anything they put out there.

DEBATES ARE OVER FOR NOW

The first round of presidential debates are over and we’re still not even close to knowing who the Republican nominee for president will be. However, we’re still a year and a half from getting rid of the current president and his administration whose purpose was to destroy the United States of America. So, what can we do to stop the bleeding?

This president and his henchmen are going to do everything they possibly can to continue to fundamentally transform the United States of America, a promise made by the current president and one that he has certainly kept.

Illegal immigrants are committing heinous crimes in our “sanctuary cities,” with the current administration ignoring these crimes. Instead, this administration wants to welcome as many illegal aliens in this country as possible, grant them amnesty, give them benefits, and register them to vote, knowing they will vote Democrat.

Earlier this month, the current president released the finalized version of the EPA’s power plant rule. The new regulation is 1,500 pages in length and will have a significant economic impact on businesses according to yellowhammernews.com.

The final rule mandates that power plants cut an average of 32 percent of their carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. An EPA analysis projects the cost of compliance to be around $8.4 billion per year by 2030, but many non-partisan researchers think that the number could be much higher. According to Congressman Gary Palmer (R-Alabama), American workers and their families, particularly the most economically vulnerable, can ill afford the real-life costs of this rule, which will result in significant utility rate increases and lost jobs with little to no measurable environmental impact.

According to Congressman, Mike Rogers (R-Alabama), this administration and the EPA continue their pattern of overreach into our lives and pockets with President Obama’s clean power plan announcement. Even though the Supreme Court, in June, ruled against parts of the current president’s radical agenda, he continues to push forward with his sinister plans. These plans will do nothing more than pass on additional costs to consumers and raise energy prices for hard-working families.

I’m saying this to you liberals, once more. Don’t you dare say to me that the Democrat party is the party of the middle class! You do, you will get an ear-full from me. You’re not just against the middle class, you liberals are against just about everyone except maybe the very rich who are able to weather your evil policies without being too financially damaged. Your heinous policies are certainly meant to damage the rest of us, so you can have control over as many aspects of our lives as possible.

It’s been one year since the shooting death of Michael Brown, a black youth, by white police officer Darren Wilson. Office Wilson has since been cleared of any wrongdoing, but the rioters are out there in full mode. While I have to proof, I speculate that the protesters are being funded by that awful George Soros. Soros will stoop to anything to destroy the United States of America.

There’s a group emerging out of the fabrication, “black lives matter.” This group appears to have as its goal to divide Americans by race. I have no doubt that this is also funded by that old awful George Soros. Race relations in this country have taken a nose-dive in the last 6-1/2 years and I attribute it 100% to the current administration. Of course, the current president is not only a racist bigot, but a divider. A Facebook friend who claims to be an independent was questioning why there were no questions regarding race relations in this past Thursday’s debates. I wanted to reply back to him that when the current president leaves office race relations should begin to normalize, especially if a Republican president is elected. Of course, there’s racism on this planet and there always will be until Jesus returns and sets up his 1,000 year kingdom. But most of us Republicans/conservatism have moved beyond judging people by the color of their skin. Liberals, disappointingly, have not.

Yes, the debates are over for now and as time goes on, candidates will drop out of the race for president. The problems we have in this country, including, but not limited to the ones cited above are with us and will further steer the United States of America away from the dreams of our founding fathers.

Liberals tell us that the sluggish economy and lack of jobs is just the new norm. They also tell us that we’ll get used to the higher prices and lower quality of healthcare. That’s the new norm, also. But don’t worry, we’re going to continue to soak the rich, not because it helps those who are not rich, but because it gives us more control over everyone’s lives. While your middle class life will be no better, you can rest assured that we are doing what we can to destroy those who are currently rich and will continue to prevent anyone who aspires to get rich.

Can we still take this country back? Will we elect a president who will promptly undo all of the executive orders that the current president has signed? Will the new president be able to repeal Obamacare? The fate of this country is totally in God’s hands and we must have faith in him. We also must have faith that in the next year and a half that we don’t cross the point of no return.

THE DEBATES AND OTHER STUFF

Everything about this past Thursday’s debates has been said, or has it? Actually, I keep reading new accounts regarding the debates each day.

As I review my tweets during the debates, here are a few of my thoughts. I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t think that Carly Fiorina clearly won the early debate among the seven lowest polling Republicans. She obviously is up to date on foreign policy and the nation’s economy too. Plus, she’s polished and articulate. My prediction: she will move up into the first tier as some in the original first tier drop out of the race. Other highlights of the late afternoon debate included Senator Lindsey Graham’s statement about Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neill working together to solve the problems of the nation’s economy. Senator Graham indicated that he would be a Ronald Reagan, but doubted that he, in this day and age, could find a Tip O’Neill. Two of the candidates, Bobby Jindal and John Kasich were at opposite ends of the spectrum with Governor Jindal of Louisiana choosing not to expand Medicaid in his state and Governor Kasich of Ohio choosing to take the Medicaid money. All seemed to indicate they would un-do the current President’s executive orders and work to repeal Obamacare. And we all want those things.

For the prime-time debate, the Cleveland, Ohio crowd was so enthusiastic you would have thought it was a sporting event instead of a political event. All of the candidates with the exception of Rand Paul had big smiles on their faces.

When the debate began, all of us were startled by an “out of the box” surprise. Moderator Bret Baier asked for a show of hands…who would not pledge to support the Republican nominee and not pledge to run as a third party candidate. Donald Trump was the only one who raised his hand. After Megyn Kelly asked candidate Trump questions regarding his disparaging remarks about some women’s looks, I felt things were getting a little too personal. I wanted to get back to the issues. Of course, much has been said about the ensuing exchange between Kelly and Trump. It’s even being bantered around that the RNC directed Fox News to pose questions of that nature to “the Donald” in order to denigrate his candidacy. It’s possible, I guess. And I’m also fairly sure that Bret and Megyn were told to ask those questions.

After the prime-time debate, I couldn’t begin to tell you who won, and three days later, I still can’t. I don’t think Rand Paul will go much further. I don’t know what’s going to happen with Donald Trump. Senator Ted Cruz was on his game as was Mike Huckabee. Scott Walker, not making any mistakes, neither helped himself nor hurt himself. Dr. Ben Carson also did well, and I think everyone agrees that his closing statement was the best. I’m still laughing about it. Many think that Senator Marco Rubio won the evening’s debate and they’re probably right. Senator Rubio’s performance helped him.

In listing to all of the candidates speak, I felt that an underlying current was running through the event. This country’s in very bad shape due to the current administration. And the debates, both of them, brought out just how low we’ve sunk.
Obamacare is a disaster and must be repealed. It was rammed through the legislative process using every legislative trick in the book, including threats and intimidation directed toward some members of Congress who were from conservative leaning states. The American people were flat-out lied to by the current president and many of his henchmen. Premiums increased when we were told they would decrease. We were told if we liked our doctors, we could keep our doctors. All lies.

This president told the American people he had a phone and he had a pen and whenever possible he would implement executive orders when Congress wouldn’t act on his proposals. This is a dictatorship, folks. Those executive orders must be rescinded and the general feeling among the candidates is that upon becoming President of the United States, those executive orders would be rescinded immediately.

It was also a consensus that the nuclear arms treaty with Iran is a disaster which will insure that Iran is able to develop a nuclear bomb. Billions of dollars will be flowing into Iran now that sanctions have been lifted. Secretary of State, John Kerry, has said that he hopes that the country of Iran will do the right thing and use the money to prop up Iran’s economy and the welfare of its people. John Kerry hopes, yeah right! Iran is the number one for state-sponsored terrorism on the planet. If 67 votes in the Senate can’t be garnered to override a presidential veto of Congress’s rejection of the Iran agreement.

Donald Trump, in responding to Megyn Kelly’s line of questions indicated that we have become too obsessed with political correctness, but we have too many problems to be politically correct. I think he’s right. Most people, at least conservatives, are tired of having their words twisted into racists, sexist, and homophobic remarks when nothing of the kind was intended. An accidental misspeak by a conservative can lead to job loss, forced resignation, financial ruin, and many other negatives.

In addition, Governor Mike Huckabee brought up the fact that people are vilified if they don’t agree with the President on the issues. Being able to disagree with your government officials is a fundamental right of all Americans. Up until 6-1/2 years ago, that right was ever-present. President George W. Bush indicated many times that the American people had a right to disagree with their government officials. Furthermore, President Bush respected this fact and often met with people who disagreed with him. We must, as a free nation, have that right. We must get that right back.

Senator Rand Paul touched on freedom to practice our religion. He indicated that we can’t have the government entering our churches and enforcing government laws on those whose religious beliefs are in conflict with those laws. Not only are we doing that, we’re destroying people because of religious beliefs and practices.

Whew! What a list of horrible things that this administration has wrought upon the American people. Even if you still have not decided who you are going to support for the Republican nominee, I hope that you at least were reminded of the horrible shape our country is in and why we’re in such a horrible shape.
