MARY LANDRIEU, SHAME ON YOU!

Democrat Senator from Louisiana, Mary Landrieu, sure stuck her foot in her mouth yesterday when she said that the south has not been friendly to blacks or women because it is conservative. If that’s the case, why are there so many of us down here? Why aren’t we scrambling to move to other parts of the country leaving behind the white guys?

Speaking as a white woman, I like it here. I’ve had chances to move to other areas, but have chosen not to. And why wouldn’t a woman not want to live in the South? The climate here is certainly better here than the climate in most parts of the nation. I’m not an outdoors person and the thought of having to shovel snow everyday  in order to get to work does not appeal to me at all. Furthermore, it’s overall much safer down here. I consider the street and neighborhood where I live to be one of the safest in the nation. So why would I want to move to a place where I had to have multiple locks on the doors and would be taking a chance with my life if I decided that I needed something from the store in the middle of the night. Also, folks are generally friendlier here and much more likely to help you if you’re in distress. And the food’s better down here.

Now I can’t speak for blacks, but here in Alabama, some of you might be happy to know that we have made some strides since last year. If you will recall, last year the top two Alabamians were white. This year that’s changed. Granted, the number one person in the state of Alabama is white and you can call me a racist if you must, but I hope that doesn’t change anytime soon. But the number two person in this state is black. And you will probably have to go down to places 8 or 9 to find a white person. Now my list might not be the same as everyone’s list, but I can guarantee you that a large majority of the people that live in the state of Alabama will say that the number one person in the state on their list is white and the number two person on their list is black.

So, what’s Ms. Landrieu trying to say or what excuses is she trying to make for the fact that she is struggling to keep her Senate seat? My guess is that she’s doing  what all Democrats seem to do when they are backed into a corner and can’t win arguments  based on facts and statistics. She hurls insults and accusations of racism, sexism, and every other “ism.” Well, Mary, you might ought to re-think you conclusions about the South. You just might be taking up permanent residence here in the near future.

THE RACIST, BIGOTED POLICY OF AFFIRMATIVE ACTION

I reside in Central Alabama, one of the major Republican strong-holds in the nation. Yet we do have a lot of Democrats here. Furthermore, it’s been my observation that the Democrats who live here are more difficult to deal with and have a reasonable discussion with than, let’s say, Democrats in Massachusetts. Why is that? I tend to think it’s because they are vastly outnumbered here in the American Southeast. I’ve noted that some of them refer to themselves as bright blue dots in a sea of red. I really think they have a complex about it. They can’t win an argument on the facts, so they resort to hurling insults and name-calling when challenged. These “bright blue dots” are always pontificating about all of the injustices in this nation and how the Republicans hate the poor, hate minorities, hate the elderly…yada, yada, yada. I’ve posted about this and indicated that it’s nothing but BS and cited reasons why.

One of the things that I am accused of is being racist when I don’t support the current president’s policies. I’m also called a racist when I say that I don’t support affirmative action. Duh! Affirmative action is one of the most racist and bigoted practices in the United States of America today. It says to minorities that you’re not good enough to make it in the “white man’s world.” You’re inferior. And because you’re inferior, we’re going to help you because we’re your friends. While we don’t have twenty acres and a mule to give you, we’re going to give you better things. We’re going to lower the standards for you so you can get into colleges, graduate programs, medical school, law school, etc. without having to score as high on the entrance exams as your white counter parts. We’re also going to allow you get loans for houses, cars, etc. with lower credit scores than your white counterparts.

However, when you get that medical degree and become a doctor, don’t expect me or any or my family members to patronize you. Also, when you are able to get the loan to buy that fancy house in that fancy neighborhood, just make sure that you purchase a fancy house in a fancy neighborhood that’s a long, long way from my fancy house and my fancy neighborhood.

A number of years ago, I was having a political discussion with a cousin who is now deceased. This particular cousin was a strong Democrat, highly intelligent, but in effect, didn’t know squat. When I indicated that I was not a proponent of affirmative action, she promptly replied that her husband worked with several outstanding blacks. “So,” I replied. “What does that have to do with affirmative action?” She looked at me funny. Sure, I could have jerked her chain a while longer, but I chose not to. I just explained that if her husband’s colleagues were so great, then why did they need affirmative action. My cousin was doing what a lot of folks, especially liberals, do. She was confusing affirmative action with equal opportunity when the two are nothing like.

With equal opportunity you are encouraged to submit your resume and it will be evaluated along with everyone else’s resume and not with regards to race, gender, ethnicity, etc. With equal opportunity, you are submitted a test to take and have to score at a certain level to go to the next level. On the other hand, with affirmative action, we’re going to do you favors because we’re your friends. But in actuality, you’re inferior, so you need our help. And when you accept our help, you will be beholden to us for the rest of your life. But again, don’t expect me to have dinner with you or invite you into my home.

In addition to my Democrat cousin, I had a very liberal/Democrat aunt who is also now deceased. Talk about looking down your nose at minorities, she was the poster child for it. Of course, she was all for social programs that purportedly helped these inferior people. When I told her that I had a lot of black friends and we have dinner together and even take trips together, I thought she was going to have a stroke. But according to liberals/Democrats, I’m the racist bigot because I judge people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. I’m the racist bigot because, if there’s a house for sale next door to my house, I tell any and all of my friends who are looking for a house, to “check it out.”

Another time, a Democrat friend of mine, who is black, told me that she didn’t know of anyone who got their job, house, car, education through affirmative action. Well, she just made my point. If no one is “benefitting” from affirmative action, they obviously don’t need it. So, let’s do away with it.

Where Do You Stand?

The first time that I ever voted, I split my ticket. It was a presidential election year and I voted for the Republican candidate for President. After that, I’ve always voted straight Republican. As you can determine, I have never voted for a Democrat for President or for Governor of Alabama. I became a very outspoken Republican in the 1980s after joining Greater Birmingham Young Republicans.

I truly believe in the Republican philosophy of how we should govern ourselves; less government is best and if the government needs to handle something, it should be done at the lowest level of government possible.

Having said the above, there have been countless times that folks have said to me, “I don’t vote for the party, I vote for the person.” I have more respect for someone who is a big government/socialist/totalitarian leaning Democrat than I have for the person who claims to be independent and “votes for the man.” I include those that “vote for the man” as low information voters and pretty much hold them responsible for the dire situation that this country is in now.

In 2008, they didn’t like President Bush and just because it happened on Bush’s watch, the late summer/early fall collapse of the economy was automatically George Bush’s fault. This country needs change and anything has to be better than what we have. So, without doing any research on the root cause of the 2008 economic collapse, they voted for the sliver-tongued Barak Obama (now I’ve actually said his name) because he promised hope and change.

A low information voter usually gets his or her news from a local newspaper and the evening news. Because the mainstream media is an advocate of liberal causes, low information voters tend to accept, without a doubt, that man-made global warming/climate change is real, that those who reject socialized medicine/Obamacare are racists and don’t want the American people to have access to health care, that Republicans/conservatives are against the current President because he is half black, etc.

In 1992, the year that Bill Clinton was elected President for the first time, I was working with a number of very opinionated women. If you recall, one of the platforms that the Clinton campaign rallied around was the acumen of Bill’s wife, Hillary. They purported that in voting for Bill, you would get two for the price of one. Hillary Clinton was definitely going to be an involved first lady. Several of the women that I worked with were very supportive of Hillary and were excited that a woman, it didn’t matter that she was not actually elected by the people or appointed to a position with the approval of Congress, was going to be heavily involved in the governing of this nation. When I simply told them that I didn’t agree with her politically, they looked at me as though I was a traitor to my sex. It seems that nothing mattered about her except that she was a woman and a self-proclaimed feminist. This group was definitely pro-choice, but on other issues I doubt any of them could discuss much of anything.

Several months ago I recall seeing a post from someone on Facebook to the effect that we should forget about being a Democrat or a Republican and work together to solve our problems. That certainly sounds good, but so many times, we get those “watered down” solutions that no one is happy with. Furthermore, those solutions are usually bad. Republicans seems to be scared to be portrayed in the press as the party of “NO.” Therefore, they end up compromising and government just gets larger.

With a government so unfathomably huge and an administration that is out of control, I think the Republicans should embrace being the party of “NO.” NO to expanding the role of government. NO to more social programs that are making our citizens even more dependent on government than they already are.NO to new taxes. NO to violating the principles set forth in the U.S. Constitution by our founding fathers.

Being an “Internet Girl,” I spend a substantial amount of time online, a lot of it doing political research. While I mostly peruse conservative sites, I also spend some time on liberal sites such as Huffington Post, Mother Jones, Salon, and Slate. I don’t like seeing things taken out of context and will call out anyone, Democrat or Republican on that.

Now I don’t expect everyone to take an interest in political issues like I do, but I do think it is every American citizen’s duty to be an informed voter. When you voted for the silver-tongued president that promised hope and change, did you do any research regarding what that change might include or did you just go with the mainstream media who were slobbering all over themselves at the site of this guy. Do you know what the difference between a Republican and Democrat is, what the difference between a conservative and a liberal is? Before even getting in close proximity to a voting place, I believe that knowing these differences is an absolute necessity.

As I indicated above, it’s not just the big government liberals that are taking this country down. In fact, the root blame for the descent of this country lies with the low information voters and those who “vote for the man.”

CLIMATE CHANGE DEBUNKED ONCE AGAIN…How Long Will it Take Liberals to Accept This

According to express.co.uk.com, John Coleman, who co-founded the Weather Channel shocked academics by insisting the theory of man-made climate change was no longer scientifically credible. John Coleman is one of the world’s leading meteorologists says Express. Instead, what little evidence there is for rising global temperatures points to a natural phenomenon within a developing ecosystem, Coleman further indicates.

In an open letter attacking the intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Mr. Coleman sites the following:

  • The ocean is not rising significantly.
  • The polar ice is increasing, not melting away.
  • Heat waves have actually diminished, not increased.
  • There is not an uptick in the number or strength of storms (in fact, storms are diminishing).

Mr. Coleman said he based many of his views on the findings of the NIPCC, a non-governmental international body of scientists aimed at offering an independent second opinion of the evidence reviewed by the IPCC.

He added, “There is no significant man-made global warming at this time; there has been none in the past and there is no reason to fear any in the future.

This article is one of many that have come out and debunked climate change; but instead of expressing an open minded attitude and saying, let’s talk more about this, maybe we’re not heading for an apocalypse after all; liberals say it’s all a bunch of lies and continue to hurl insults at those who question man-made climate change.

Why wouldn’t everyone be happy if man-made climate change turned out to be non-existent, especially liberals? If man-made climate change didn’t exist we could continue using coal to produce energy and the coal miners, especially those who live in the poverty stricken areas of Appalachia, would be able to keep their jobs. Aren’t these the folks that liberals claim to support and care about? If climate change no longer exists, the strict environmental regulations imposed on automobile companies could be lifted. Then the automobile companies could manufacture automobiles that the people really want and desire. They could also do it cheaper, resulting in the middle and lower classes being better able to afford nicer cars. Once again, don’t liberals claims to support the lower and middle classes? What about the price of gas? The oil companies would be free and should have the green light to further explore methods to extract the vast oil resources that we have in this great nation. The price of gas should go down also. Of course, this will benefit the middle and lower income folks that the liberals claim to support.

But no, the liberals are just going to scream that any evidence that man-made global warming doesn’t exist is just a bunch of lies and continue to hurl insults at those of who disagree with them. They’re going to continue their efforts to shut down the coal industry, to stop the exploration for oil in this nation, to promote and pass legislation putting burdensome regulations on automobile companies forcing them to build what they consider fuel efficient vehicles and electric vehicles. Then they will force us to buy these pieces of (fill in the blank with your own words).

Once again, if you’re middle or lower income, a minority, a female, etc. and you think that liberals are genuinely concerned for your well-being, I have some swamp land in Louisiana that you might be interested in. Now maybe that earth shoes wearing, Prius driving neighbor of yours who purports to care about the poor and down-trodden, minorities, and women, actually does. But when you get to the higher level liberals, those who are party leaders and office holders, they don’t give a rip about the middle class, the poor, minorities, or women. In fact, they have no respect for you at all. They think your too stupid to make basic decisions about how you lead your life. And because you’re unable to make these decisions, they need to be there for you to tell you what to eat, what to drive, how to invest, where to live, where to get your news, what healthcare you should have, etc. It’s all about growing government to the point that everyone is fully dependent on the government. Then the government can take from you according to what you can produce and give to you what they think you need.

DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSITE TO AMERICA

According to liberal rag, Mother Jones, Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat and senior Senator from Massachusetts, campaigned for the Democrats in Iowa, Minnesota, and Colorado this past weekend. Also, according to Mother Jones, the following were some of her best “red meat” lines.

  • The game is rigged and it is the Republicans who rigged it. What in the world does this woman mean? If anything, I’d say that the game is rigged toward the Democrats. Whenever there is a close election and votes have to be counted multiple times, the Democrats usually come out on top. There’s always those ballot boxes that were found several days after election day in the trunk of someone’s car. And, of course, ballots from our military overseas arrived too late to be legally included in the vote totals. And if it is ultimately ruled that the Republican came out on top, the Democrats will holler to the top of their lungs that the Republicans cheated and were guilty of fraud. And they’ll continue with the same rhetoric forever.
  • Who does this government work for? According to Ms. Warren, it just works for millionaires and billionaires. Right now, I don’t think it works for anybody. Certainly not the wealthy who are being threatened with confiscatory tax rates and overly burdensome regulations for business that they may own. It certainly doesn’t work for the middle class. We’re faced with higher prices for goods and services and higher taxes. With the current president declaring war on the coal industry and so many environmentalists advocating doing away with fossil fuels and make way for the more expensive and less dependable green energies. And let’s not forget healthcare. Millions of middle class Americans are faced with losing their healthcare coverage provided by their employers and will be paying much, much more for health insurance that’s not going to be as good as what they had. I guess the only folks that government really works for are the members of the welfare class. They don’t have anything to begin with and this government’s goal is to extend the welfare state by creating more programs and making those folks in the welfare class even more dependent on government than they already are.
  • The Republicans believe that this country should work for those who are rich. You’re damned right; it should work for the rich. It should also work for the middle class and for the poor. This country should work for all Americans and it can work for all Americans. Just lift the heavy tax burdens and regulatory burdens and let business expand. Let them create job and hire those who are able to work. Also, when businesses are prospering, they’re more likely to give their employees better raises and benefits. More people earning more money equals more people paying more taxes and more revenue to our local, state, and federal governments. When this happens, our nation can better afford to take care of those less fortunate. More money will be contributed to more private charities and yes, we will have money for government programs that do serve to provide safety nets for those truly in need.
  • When conservatives came to power in the 1980s, the first thing they did was fire the cops on Wall Street. I guess Ms. Warren means that many burdensome regulations were lifted thereby making it easier for businesses to make profits, expand, hire more people, and provide better salaries and benefits for their employees. This period of de-regulation led to the start of many new businesses and increased the level of competition where everyone was forced to be the best they could possibly be. Old businesses were able to expand, new businesses were created, and jobs were created. People took risks. Some were successful and some were not. Yea, this a bad time in the history of America. Sheesh!
  • They (the Republicans) ought to be wearing a T-shirt that says, “I got mine, the rest of you are on your own.” Actually, I think this is good. I made it and so can you. I’m no better than you are, so just go out there and do it. We’ve lowered taxes and lifted regulations, the world is your oyster.

Elizabeth Warren is probably one of the most liberal folks out there. She’s even more liberal that the current president. Her rhetoric is nothing but extreme socialism, even bordering on communism. From each according to his ability and to each according his need. Her political philosophies are so diametrically opposite to the principles on which this country was founded. It’s chilling folks, just chilling.
