INCOME INEQUALITY

When the term income inequality is thrown out there by liberals and the current President of the United States, I’m still not sure what they’re talking about. At first the left seemed to be pontificating about men making more money than women and indicating that it was a huge problem and had to be stopped. Of course, when the Republicans questioned this, they were waging another war on women, similar to the one republicans were falsely accused of waging prior to the 2012 presidential election.

Now I’m not saying that things are perfect out there in corporate America or even in the public sector, but laws have been passed to prevent such as this, and they were passed several decades ago. Discrimination, no matter what the context, is very hard to prove because so much is subjective. If you feel that you’re not being paid what you’re worth and sitting in a cube; while Johnny over there makes six figures, has some sort if title and an office; and you’re doing pretty much the same work; maybe it’s time for you to look for another job. The best revenge is to go somewhere else and “just show em.”

Sure, you could raise a ruckus, threaten to sue, etc. But what’s that going to get you? Probably a bad reputation, so no one will hire you. This is true especially if you’re young and have your whole life and career ahead of you. One of these days, the word’s going to get out about your old company and they may start having a hard time getting anyone to work for them. Johnny and his six figure salary, title, and office might be laid off and have to come to your company begging for a job, any job, even one where he sits in a cube and has no title.

Now, liberals seem to be talking about a different type of income inequality and for the first time in the history of this nation, a political party is not advocating the value of hard work. It started with Nancy Pelosi encouraging folks to quit their jobs and do something they’ve always wanted to do such as write a book or start that small business. Because the ACA is now the law of the land, you won’t have work at that horrible job that you hate just to have health insurance. It seems they are saying to their liberal constituents, you can quit that job you hate, the government will take care of you. I imagine we conservatives, who might have jobs that we hate that pay well, should stick with them so we can pay for all the liberals to be lazy, healthy, and happy.

Yes, I did quit a job that I was “fed up with,” to start a business and write what I hope is the first of many books. However, I only quit the job after I had enough money in the bank to last a while. Since I quit the job, I’ve taken a couple of consulting jobs to slow the depletion of my savings, but continued to work on the book and the business. Also, I’m paying for health insurance under COBRA and it’s not cheap.

As this country drifts further and further left, and appears to be embracing the theory that Karl Marx made popular, “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need,” I’m wondering if the left thinks that it’s wrong for someone like me, a software engineer by trade, to make more than someone who works at a cash register at Wal-Mart. Do they think I’m the result of some sort of privilege and somehow became a software engineer, while the Wal-Mart cashier didn’t have the benefit of privilege and is stuck being a Wal-Mart cashier? Should I cry myself to sleep at night because I can afford a nice house, a nice car, and nice clothes while the Wal-Mart cashier drives a beat-up car that she’s not sure is going to get her from point A to point B. The liberals think so.

I used to know a girl who was as dumb as a post, but because her Dad had good connections, she was able to get into the college of her choice even though she made Cs and Ds and had low scores on her college entrance exams. We’ve all known people like that and maybe you are one of them. Did this girl cry herself to sleep at night because she had privilege? I doubt it. Would the liberals want her to? Probably not, because I think her family might have been democrats. What happened to this girl? I don’t know and frankly I don’t care. I accepted my middle class/working class background, studied hard and made the grades to get in and out of the University of Alabama, aided by the above average intelligence that God gave me.

When I was in my late twenties and early thirties, I worked in an office with a girl who was a file clerk and would never be anything more than a file clerk. She wasn’t all that bright, in other words, not college material, and she came from a very poor family. I did feel sorry for her and a few times I gave her some money when she needed it, along with everyone else in the office. I guess liberals think I should have given her half my salary so we could be equal, even though my job was much harder than hers and I had worked very hard to qualify for that kind of job.

Liberals are always talking about a level playing field and that their job is not done until we have one. There is never going to be a level playing field. Look at yourself, take inventory of who you are, what you are, where you came from, and where you are going. There are always going to be people smarter than you, better looking than you, have better jobs than you. You might have to work a little harder to make those grades than the person sitting next to you. Your hair might be more difficult to deal with than hers. She may be able to eat all the cheeseburgers and pizza that she wants and not gain a pound. Her parents may have a second home on the lake and a boat, spending their weekends there, while your parents make you get up, get dressed, and go to church. Her boyfriend is the captain of the football team and you’re going to the dance with an underclassman. Decades later you may find out that her Dad had affairs and treated her and her Mom like dirt. That lake house and boat? Well, the bank had to foreclose. Stuff like this does happen.

Before she died, Mama told me on numerous occasions that everyone has their problems and while it may look like their lives were idyllic, they may not be any better than ours. Is there anyone out there that I would like to change places with? Frankly no! I have a friend whose husband makes good money and is a good man. She doesn’t work and spends most of her time traveling. Do I want to be her? No. Even though she has a great life, I don’t want to trade places with her for a number of reasons. There’s a guy that I would like to go out with, but he has a girlfriend. Do I want to trade places with that girlfriend? No. I don’t know anything about her other than she’s going out with someone I like.

The playing field is never going to be level even though the liberals are doing their dead-level best to create one, thinking they can create Heaven here on earth. And that’s going to happen. In creating it, most of us will be brought down and very few will be brought up. Take what you have and what God has given you; follow him and let everything else go. It is only then that we’ll have true fulfillment.

YOU GOT A PHONE AND YOU GOT A PEN, USE THEM?

I’ve never been fond of presidents signing executive orders, no matter to which political party they belonged. To get something handled while Congress is not in session or routine administrative stuff are my limits. Although, if a Republican takes the White House in 2016, I hope he or she reverses all of the executive orders that Obama has implemented. I don’t have a list of the current president’s executive orders, but I’m sure they’re sinister.

When Obama told us all that he had a phone and a pen, and wouldn’t hesitate to go around Congress to do anything he felt necessary to transform this nation into his idea of what a totalitarian utopia should be.
U.S. Marine Sargent, Andrew Tahmooressi is still being detained in a Mexican prison after taking a wrong turn which led him into Mexico with licensed weapons in his vehicle. This young American has been mistreated by our neighbors to the south for nothing other than a driving mistake.

Mr. President, you say you have a phone. FOR GOODNESS SAKE, MAKE A PHONE CALL to the president of Mexico and get Sargent Tahmooressi out of there! WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU? Well, I think I know. You’re nothing but a pawn in the overall effort to take the United States of America down to the status of a European socialist nation, or worse. You may even want to make us like Venezuela, emulating your buddy, the late Yugo Chavez. You’re an Islamic terrorist sympathizer who knew exactly what you were doing when you traded alleged millitary deserter Bowe Berghdahl for five of the worst guys detained at Guantanamo Bay. The fact that those five will certainly command fellow terrorists to seek out and kill more Americans is just what you want because you hate the United States of America.

You hate me and people like me; small business owners who are working their fingers to the bone so they will have something in their bank accounts and not have to depend on government to provide for us our basic needs. And I shudder to think what those basic need might be.

Instead or promoting the American dream and conveying to our citizens that through hard work and dedication, they will have the opportunity to achieve greatness, you encourage Americans, particularly the middle class and those who are not white males, to claim that they are victims of a corrupt America who favors the wealthiest of Americans, while doing your dead level best to stifle those of us who are trying to create wealth and create jobs.

Your administration is the first in my lifetime that has discouraged hard work. Even the regimes of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton encouraged Americans to work hard to achieve their dreams. But not your regime, Mr. President. Your desire is to squeeze and stifle everyone of us so that we give up and allow the government to run our lives.

Mr. President, I can’t think of anything that you have done to make the United States of American a better place to live, work, and raise children. NOTHING, nothing at all! But now you have the opportunity to do one good thing…MAKE THAT PHONE CALL TO THE MEXICAN PRESIDENT! Get Sargent Tahmooressi out of that Mexican prison.

Just do something right for a change. I’m really getting tired of all the sinister things that you are doing to this country. Again, do something right for a change!

WHAT TOOK THE DEMOCRATS SO LONG?

When Fox News began investigating the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from the Taliban in exchange for the release from Guantanamo Bay of five of the most evil people on the face of this earth, I wondered how long it would take for the liberals/progressives/democrats to start the vitriol against Fox New for investing this story. Well, it’s begun. There are a lot of issues and unanswered questions here and every media outlet should be investigating it. But the dems seem to think that all of us should be happy that a POW is now at home and not consider the fact that five dangerous men were, for all intents and purposes, set free to kill again.

This story should be investigated fully, it should speak for itself. It’s come out that other presidents have negotiated for the release of prisoners and kept the negotiations under wraps. However, the current president made the most of the situation by parading the parents of the prisoner in front of cameras in the Rose Garden. Also, it looks like the president definitely broke the law by not consulting with the Senate on this one. By law, he is required to notify the Senate whenever inmates in Gitmo are released. Again, this whole thing stinks and should be investigated. If nothing’s there, nothing’s there. However, I doubt that nothing will be found. In fact, in not looking into this, media outlets are not doing their due diligence. Yes, there have been times that I’ve been aggravated at liberal media for their investigations into conservative and felt like their investigations were nothing but witch hunts. But I don’t think I’ve ever called or accused any media outlet of the things that dems are calling and accusing Fox News of. I guess that’s just me, though. I’m much too interested in promoting the conservative way of governing and conservative ideals than I am trashing certain media outlets and individuals. Could the publicizing of this event, by the administration, be an effort to defray focus away from all of the scandals plaguing this administration? Somehow, I think that just might be the case.

Can you imagine what kind of country we would have if the dems were allowed to have their way all the time? Neither can I. That might be the subject of another post, or maybe even a book.
